C’est la var Ref never calls that if he thinks it’s in the PA. He calls it and VAR shows it inside, his hands are tied.
The AR was behind the corner flag instead of closer to the PA on the goal line for that PK. Thoughts on that?
I'm a little surprised there wasn't a VAR review for a potential red on that yellow card to Mexico. A cleat-stomp right on the ankle... seemed pretty bad for me.
Honestly it's probably to get back to the line (or stay on rather) quicker... I mean whats a few more yards when you're staring straight onward?
it’s specific to instructions that have been given in some competitions with VAR. Since the powers that be want GK infractions called by VAR and they are using GLT, there’s no reason in these games for the AR to come in from the touchline.
I'm not. Ouch, stepped on his ankle pic.twitter.com/DC69c7jRKZ— CJ Fogler account may or may not be notable (@cjzero) July 30, 2021 I see some contact studs a bit above the ankle. I definitely see some studs on top of the foot. But the movement of the foot is down the leg onto the foot and not through the leg. And I can't help but notice that he seems to heel the ground rather than go through the opponent with full force. If any of this convinces the VAR that no red card is supportable, then it's check complete. This being determined to be a clear and obvious error in a game that featured yet another unpunished hand to the throat during a mass confrontation (not to mention the strike that FOX caught on their replays)? Now that would surprise me.
Yeah, they're still yelling "P*T*O" on the GKs for sure... edit: Yep. Offensive chants referee procedure. Here we go.
Oh look, once again its not until the end of the game that the ref stops the match for the chant. Send them to the locker rooms, otherwise this is just performative crap.
This is so stupid. If you want to stop it, penalize them. if you don’t, then play on. But this is not a deterrent.
I know I get shouted down for this every time I bring it up, but I'm going to say it again: In situations like this, the clock should stop. Allowing the clock to continue to run during situations where something soccer-related isn't happening serves no purpose other than to distort what period of the match you're actually in.
They are being penalized. They have to play their first 2 WQCs behind closed doors. And that penalty was from before the Champions League final with all the chants and thrown objects from the stands.
That doesn’t hurt them. We’ve been playing behind closed doors for the last two years. Deduct points, ban from tournaments, etc.
I realize it should be all the same amount of time, but it sure doesn't sit right to see Mexico score in the 9th minute of 7 minutes of stoppage time after the game was halted for 5+ minutes because of Mexican fans. And then no reds for that fight? CONCACAF gonna CONCACAF.
