    Some details on Driussi’s deal.

    https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-...-signs-argentine-midfielder-sebastian-driussi

Additional financial terms were not disclosed, but sources said Driussi's transfer fee was around $7 million and that Austin paid $50,000 to Inter Miami for Driussi's discovery rights.”

Lol. What kind of scouting is Austin FC doing, that they have to pay 50k to Miami for “discovery rights”?It’s not like he’s raggedy kid from the outskirts BsAs. Hell, they could’ve given me 10k and I would give them a list of players to go after… Well,’probably not, I wouldn’t want them to go to the MLS.

Or they could just come here and look at the Players of the Future thread. We all know that Scaloni reads this forum during the matches.:D:cool:

It's one of those MLS things done for parity. Theoretically it gives smaller market teams the first chance to sign somebody that might rather want to play for New York City FC or somewhere like that. Obviously that falls apart for bigger name players that are worth just buying the "discovery rights" to outright, but it kind of makes sense if you want to prevent clubs from hoarding all the international talent. I'm sure some MLS team has the discovery rights to Messi and will get paid if he ever ends up coming here, lol.

You could argue MLS is at the point where it should be beyond such gimmicks, though.

    Udinese is after Alario

They just cashed in over 50 million euros with the sales of De Paul and Musso, so money shouldn’t be an issue..

The good news is that he doesn’t want to leave for the MLS and River said the price is too low. If I’m not mistaken; they got 15 million for Pity and probably feel he’s worth that much. It does depend on Alvarez, I hope he is a bit more motivated than going to the MLS, which right now, it does appear to be the case.

He probably saw what happened to players like Barco, Pity, Santi Sosa, etc who all planned on using the MLS as a stepping stone (ala Almiron) yet in the end had their careers derailed.

Tbh I think Julian is a little overrated. He definitely has conditions, but he is very irregular: he can play an outstanding game and then be rubbish the next three.

Then again, he’s only 21. One kind of forgets that since Gallardo incorporated him into the team at such a young age (he came in during the 2018 Libertadores final vs Boca when he was just 18). He definitely has grown over the last year and has plenty of time to continue progressing, but idk why he never fully ends up cutting it for me. All his coaches do talk wonders of him though, from Gallardo to the youth NT guys, so that can’t be for nothing.

Palacios also had offers from MLS before he moved to Leverkusen, but he refused because he specifically wanted to go to Europe.

In some ways, the recent MLS raid of Argentinian football can be viewed as a good thing, because it is a test of mentality and character for the players.

Scaloni should make it abundantly clear that any player who chooses MLS will never be selected for the national team, then let’s see how many players still agree to move there.

The young players with true ambition will reject MLS. Those who are mercenaries will accept it, and do we really want mercenaries in the national team?

Farias is going to MLS...I seriously wonder about the future of Argentina. Unless MLS turns into this great developmental league this could be a catastrophe.

The MLS needs to be a retirement league not some developmental league. They’re willing to pay more money and the Europeans are shying away right now. You know the clubs, and player management are forcing the players hand. They’re offering guaranteed money, and probably a promise that the MlS will be a short term visit. Europe is not that far away, yada yada yada.

The MLS is a blight on the development of some of our most promising players. The clubs see them as a gateway to millions of guaranteed money.

Gonzalo Montiel close to joining Benfica. According to TyC Sports, the Portuguese club made an offer of approximately 8mm Euros. Based on today's market, this not a bad haul for a 24 year old. Four years ago this would've been a 15-20mm purchase, but the European clubs are not more frugal, we get it.

Brazil (away) added to the qualifiers for September, as well as Uruguay (home) in October to reschedule the matches canceled last spring.

The team should really seal qualification by the end of this year. 6/8 wins should do the trick.

I just have to say that I’m glad… No! Elated that Armani is no longer our #1. The guy is awful at trying to save penalties.

If you think Scaloni’s reaction was similar to this.

Hopefully we can keep momentum going with these qualifiers (especially against Brazil). It is critical to take steps forward and keep building over the next year, obviously.

Also would be great to try out some different looks (Dybala, Lisandro, Buendia, CDMs).

Dybala is poised for a big season in Juventus. Hopefully he can deliver.

Poor Kun! I'm sure that wasn't part of his plan. Keeping in mind that the only thing important about his next club season is positioning himself to be in the best shape for the mundial, where would be best for him?

    In other news.

Romero is off to Tottenham. Not sure I like this move but he’ll succeed, no doubt. The guy has balls and doesn’t quit.

Messi going to the PSG WITH DI MARIA??

    And also Paredes! (and Icardi)

This would be a dream come true to me, Di Maria and Messi are my favourite players, they are super close friends, they have been together since the olympics 2008, they understand eschother on the field perfectly, and they were both instrumental to the Copa America title!! Imagine if they get to play together everyday!! That would be amazing for the Argentina team!! Also Paredes is also there (and Icardi). This is great for the NT (if it happens).

I might watch all the PSG games if that happens.

Seriously, i do think Messi would rather go to a team with some of his best friends (di ma, neymar) and teammates that are also good friends like paredes, instead of going to grey manchester when he doesnt know anyone. Plus, the PSG DT is Pochettino.

I think this is a win for all parts involved
