BREAKING NEWS: Alyse LaHue is no longer the general manager of NJ/NY Gotham FC, the club confirmed nearly three weeks after @TheDanLauletta reported LaHue was not with the team.Story below; updates to follow.➡️ https://t.co/iENfJKdc4G pic.twitter.com/4OwAtJX5jj— The Equalizer (@EqualizerSoccer) July 16, 2021
So, it had something to do with the league's anti-harassment policy. The NWSL statement was that the league itself handled the investigation into a complaint, and gave the results of the investigation to the team. Meg Linehan also confirmed that the complaint had nothing to do with her comments about racism in Houston or visa fraud at Sky Blue. Her lawyer has said that LaHue denies the allegations. Hearing all of this, if the circle is small of those who actually know what happened, I doubt we'll ever find out the whole story as there probably were some NDA's signed.
There was one rumor account on Twitter that "broke" news the day before that she had been sleeping with a player, and cast that rumor as the worst scandal in league history.... clearly forgetting about Aaran Lines and Chris Holly. A consensual relationship between a GM and a player is honestly even less of a conflict of interest/power dynamic issue than one between a coach and a player, and they were rightly pilloried for how they delivered the rumor. That said, the emphasis in my previous sentence was on "consensual"... Considering how mum everyone is being about this harassment issue, it makes me wonder if something less than consensual was going on here.
New article from the Equalizer, which is surprisingly long considering it doesn't tell us much about the circumstances of the firing: https://equalizersoccer.com/2021/07/26/tammy-murphy-gotham-fc-owners-interview-alyse-lahue-firing/
