A good win, Hoppe is the kind of player you need. Acosta was so bad with his passing but really good defensively for the most part. Robinson and Sands were solid, Robinson played better as the game went on, Sands stayed pretty level. Good partnership. Still think Hoppe is the only one that really is A team material outside utility depth.
I saw some solid defense from Busio tonight. He was challenging successfully in ways that he was not in earlier matches.
I think we'll have to play better than we've played the last 2 games. I think we were lucky not to be scored on in each game.
We must've been watching different games. Busio is a HUGE liability on defense and offense. He gives up the ball in bad spots way too frequently and can't tackle. Like at all in anyway shape or form. Love his potential but he's not ready for this level.
Acosta should be Adams' backup. Who you got, Yueill? Yes, the passing & control is worrisome at times. But he has a great engine, range, strikes a good ball, and can play 4 positions.
In the buildup to the goal, he was responsible for keeping the offensive pressure on - twice he won the ball back in midfield and moved it forward. In the first half, I would agree with you, but he stepped it up in the 2nd - he was a different player.
My opinions: prob gonna get pooped on The Great: Hoppe (easily our best player tonight) Turner (Saves + Clean Sheet) The Good Acosta (Bossed midfield, wasn't perfect, had some decent passes Robinson (Great Defensive work, but did lose the ball/bad passes sometimes) Zardes (Couldn't get involved too much but had an excellent shot in his first possession, cleared the ball well on defense and milked the clock well at the end, and occupied space so Hoppe could get to the ball) Arriola (Involved in a lot of attacking movement) Roldan (Came on strong as a sub and involved himself a lot, with aggression and got the assist on the game winner) Meh Lletget (Seemed to slow down attacks a lot, but was involved in more than a few in the 2nd half and had some good defensive tackles won and work, not sure why his corners were so weak, his corners against Canada were actually well placed) Sands (His passing was nowhere near what we expected) Moore (Was very energetic up the right side just couldn't do anything with it Busio (Energetic, came into the game a bit better 2nd half but you can say he worked?) Vines (More mediocre passing and I don't recall much of what he did) Needs improvement Dike (Not really involved, and his ONE chance was too indecisive and held the ball until he couldn't even get a shot off) Not really enough time: Gio - involved I think once and lost the ball Cannon - well won ball but not enough for anything else
I didn’t see what you saw at all. He is slightly built and sometimes gets muscled off the ball. But I thought he stuck in pretty well several times tonight.
Well that was easy. I'm OK with Berhalter as coach but I think he was poor tonight. The tactics in the first half weren't working so why did he have to wait until half-time to change anything? Then again I thought that neither Roldan or Hoppe should have been in the pitch when we scored which shows how wrong you can be. Gotta find a way of getting Dike more into the game, if he plays against Qatar and he needs to play a bit more like Altidore.
What number would you give this USA B/C team? certainly, they are not the #21 USA rank that we love. Keep things into perspective.
Thank god for Acosta! Thank god for Robinson! Thank god for Hoppe! Thank god for Turner! I won my raasclaat bet with my Jamaican friends and we will be drinking all night long, all night ...
I just don't see what Busio really adds at this point in time. He's clearly got skills that Lletget, Roldan, and others who've played CM for us don't have but he's just not there physically or mentally to make them produce anything. Can you name one dangerous pass he's had in the last two games? I can't. He's not really part of the build up either. He's easily muscled off the ball and can't tackle AT ALL. Look I'll agree he played better in the 2nd half but part of that was simply that Jamaica worn down and couldn't pressure like they did in the first half. I hope I'm wrong and he's growing into the game but to me he was every bit as bad as Dike today and unlike Dike his mistakes put the team in really bad positions.
