I can get Japanese coffee delivered to my house within a day or so via Amazon. Used to be I had to go to a Japanese grocery store to get a single can. Now I can get a pack of the stuff.
Same concept. Obviously if someone hates their current job, or the new job is their dream job that lack of a pay increase between $100k-$113k isn't going to stop them from changing jobs. However if they are just looking for their next job, the lack of a salary increase is likey going to be a factor.
Of course it is the same concept, but different by a matter of degree. Also, except for a few cities on the coasts, $100k per year is huge money and not what "most people" earn.
That was just an arbitrary number, but it's also not a ridiculous number and is solidly "middle class" by pretty much every definition.
Tonight, the Senate voted 63-33 to confirm Tiffany Cunningham to be a lifetime judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She will be the court's first-ever Black judge. She's also Biden's third appeals court judge confirmed. All have been Black women.— Jennifer Bendery (@jbendery) July 20, 2021
So Brady voted for Biden? Tom Brady jokes at White House: Many people didn't believe the Buccaneers could win the Super Bowl — and 40% "still don't think we won." Biden responds: "I understand that." https://t.co/DP6Fshfaak pic.twitter.com/yoWvjMRzB9— Axios (@axios) July 20, 2021
Remember back several weeks when a Catholic group wanted to deny Communion to Biden because of his position on abortion? Well, funny story. https://www.pillarcatholic.com/p/pillar-investigates-usccb-gen-sec This guy Was on grindr all the time. He has now resigned.
Shock me. There might, once, have been a religious figure who attacked Democratic politicians for their immorality who wasn't a kiddy diddler, church secretary ********er, or donor grifter, but I wouldn't bet that way.
I'm thinking that this can apply to all monotheistic religions (I looked up 'sky unicorn' and there weren't any specific hits), that said religions based on Jahweh/God/Allah all have some pretty toxic sects that are problematic from a political standpoint IMO.
Oh, I think it goes well beyond that - even into atheist / agnostic groups, scientific, academia, business, etc... Generally any & everywhere you have men and some level of power to be attained, especially over women or vulnerable persons (children / elderly / disabled)
Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill, former general secretary of the U.S. bishops’ conference, announced his resignation Tuesday, after The Pillar found evidence the priest engaged in serial sexual misconduct, while he held a critical oversight role in the Catholic Church’s response to the recent spate of sexual abuse and misconduct scandals. That is a really shitty way to start the article. It reads almost as if they are trying to say the two are the same, or are related. And reading further, they do not make it clear that they are separating the two. The quote by Berg down article is all that should be said. Or at least Burrill's responsibilities should be footnote.
Truly can't make this shit up.... Burrill wanted to deny Biden communion because Biden supports women's rights. Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill resigns over alleged Grindr dates - "effectively the highest-ranking American cleric who is not a bishop.” https://t.co/bvZOH2taeh— Liz (@bluebonnetbunny) July 21, 2021
I mean this is why we invented the secular state The political arm of the evangelical movement is a force for evil IMO It couldn't be clearer with the trump tie in They are fine with misogyny, bigotry and racism so long as it furthers their toxic vision of America as some kind of christian-fascist state
Do you have dave on ignore? I ask cause he posted the original article, the ones who did the digging.
Don't forget the homophobia. That is a major player. I really wish more people would understand how all-encompassing White supremacy is, since is covers all of this: The racism, misogyny, homo/transphobia, xenophobia, anti-abortion fanaticism, and Christian evangelicalism.
"White Supremacy" doesn't really cover it all anymore as an effective umbrella, because as the country / culture has diversified, they have had to add additional structural members to maintain the integrity of the supremacy, with transphobic fears being the latest importation after having lost the culture war on "teh gayez". Maybe it's just me, but each successive import has much less impact - the transphobic stuff never took off like the rampant fears about gays and we know most pedos aren't the weird fella in the trench coat, but someone who's most typically outwardly macho hetero and has inserted themselves into places of trust to deliver their abuse. Xenophobia / Anti-Immigration doesn't hit as hard anymore because so many so called conservative employers use immigrant or 2nd gen immigrant labor, evangelical leaders getting busted faster than they can be forgiven at this point
Quite frankly I'm glad to see this sort of thing to these types of questions. Then again, a lot of these reporters really just wish they Bob Woodward. 1418402191467941888 is not a valid tweet id
