Nashville still trying to score more.

The Fire are just waiting to punch the time clock and go home.

And I don't blame Nashville a lick. It's what they're paid to do.

So, I just got home from the Steel City/Chicago House scrimmage in my hometown.
    What’d I miss?

  5. Someone on twitter mentioned that Wicky leaving so suddenly might have been a factor in the mindless first half performance. There might be something there.

I miss Dax. None on the Fire are nearly as good as him as a CDM. I am still not sure why we let Sapong go unless he was asking for ungodly amounts of money.

No he wasn't but he was replaced with Offor. We ended negotiations with Sapong as soon as we got a commitment from Offor.

While that performance was well below what I’d expect from Kappelhof, I do not rate him as highly as most. Three unforced errors that each lead to a goal, and one earning a red, is obviously a bad day.

CB is a serious weak point on this team.

The Fire didn't lose because of sudden coaching changes, unnecessary changes to the lineup, and poor defensive leadership.

We lost because the audio production quality on the broadcast was that sh!t. I mean, someone had the chance to do something during halftime. He was clipping the mic like crazy, could no one turn the mic down? Bad enough having to watch a losing team, I don't need my speakers wrecked by Terens describing another Fire turnover.

He signed with Nashville for about $400,000, so not a bad amount for a starting MLS striker.
About dead center in the Fire's wage structure, less than Beric, Gimenez, Medran, Aliseda, Calvo, Kappelhoff, Kronholm (?), Frankowski and Sekulic.
It is more than double than Offor.

If true, that is seriously shortsighted and dumb.

Offor is a kid with almost no serious experience.
Sapong has something like 74 goals and 27 assists in MLS and is a former US International.
He scored something like a goal every 2.6 games for the Fire, despite all of the time away he had last season.

It also seems more than a bit racist.

The Fire lost because Nashville are a better team and Kappelhoff committed a few incredibly poor plays that put the Fire in a hole.

It was a nightmare of a start and the Fire could not and would not recover.

Yep. Stopped at a friend's in Braidwood made perogie to eat beforehand and then went to the game. Chatted with Peter Wilt during halftime. So it was a good evening.

Just watching the low lights again, and something very concerning is the fact that on the second goal Sekulic doesn't even bother running with his man. If you watch the play from the end zone view, he just stands there while the player reacts. If this kind of play spreads to the rest of the team we might as well just claim the spoon for this season.

This was common with Sekulic last season but cleaned up on it this season mostly
