Yeah, we've seen that he can produce at lower levels--USYNTs, Bremen reserves, USMNT against lesser competition (4 of his 5 international goals have come against Bolivia and Cuba). The question is whether he can produce at levels higher than that, which can't be definitively answered by scoring in the 2nd Bundesliga, though goals there would surely be welcome. And guys like Wood and Wooten have scored a bunch in the 2nd Bundesliga, and that obviously didn't translate for them.
you can also make the argument that there really arent many good attackers in general in the sport these days. its all about work rate, defense, team shape, pressing etc. arent really many players that are doing it by themselves in terms of goal production at the top levels.
He better keep scoring with Dike and Hoppe looking good. Maybe a sense of urgency and a little competition for the spot headed into the club season and WCQ will be good for all of them.
Dike has shown a lot thus far. Hoppe I'm not sure sure I'd place him ahead of Sargent quite yet. A decent performance against semi-pros doesn't do it for me.
So the B2 starts next weekend? Ugh...didn't realize it was already here, and was hoping Sargent would be gone by now. It does seem like teams usually wait until the last minute negotiating and whatnot, but that's not gonna help Sargent even if he does move, as he'll be behind the 8 ball. Longer it goes, the better it looks to just stay and hopefully dominate for a season, and get a move then. But I certainly won't be watching (as I already spent two years gouging my eyes out for a "Bundesliga" team).
I feel like they don't want to sell low on him and will at least try and have him build some value towards the winter window. That's just a complete guess but it would make sense, especially given the lower revenues from COVID continent wide depressing all players' value.
His best two moves are either move to Holland (for.less than 4 million) and "relearn what it means to be a striker" or demand he be the number 10 at Bremen and "force" promotion single handily. Otherwise, I sense the dark arts of a Bobby Wood.
im not very high on him for this season. He is either going to have to light it up and help earn a promotion or run down a contract with them or force a transfer. First option is obviously a good one. I think they are a notch above the BL2 and should be back up but the BL2 inst a pushover. I think its as good as the championship near the top the of the league but near the bottom it tends to be kind of really bad. though an argument for the Championship could be said there too
Double header against Feyenoord today. First game was 3:3. Sargent will likely play the second game which starts in an hour. About him staying at Bremen: that’s highly unlikely. Bremen will sell another 5-10 players before the window closes end of August and Sargent is one of them. But current priority is to sell players who made it public that they want to leave despite contract and then use the leverage of not having to sell Sargent to get a better price.
Sargent does in fact start Bremen's second friendly against Feyenoord. A look at the starting XI as the first of today's two friendlies gets underway 📋Go get the W, boys 💪Watch live 📺 https://t.co/qn8Nnf8r7Q#werder #feysvw pic.twitter.com/gIaslq2RK7— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) July 17, 2021
He shoots ... and SCORES! "An equaliser from Josh #Sargent has us level at the break!" "Da sind wir wieder! Josh Sargent hämmert ihn in den Winkel! Ausgleich!" Haven't seen it, but translating (without knowing German) he hammered it in!
Great run.Great finish.A goal for Josh Sargent! (via @ESPNnl)pic.twitter.com/dE8IfDYEz5— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) July 17, 2021 That's a real nice run and a gorgeous finish.
That was the run that Mckennie should have lay out to him instead of taking a shot from 22 yards away.
McKennie might not have the vision of Pirlo but he put the ball on target or on the post enough times against Mexico that I'm not sure he's the right guy to bring up in a Josh Sargent thread.
The EFL Championship should be a reasonable destination at this point. He should have no issues getting a work permit in the post-Brexit system. https://worldfootballindex.com/2020...e-post-brexit-english-clubs-efl-libertadores/
