    That’s what I’ve been thinking . Giving a 34 year old a 5 year contract surely doesn’t sound right .

Wonder if it’s just paid out over 5 years instead of 2 or 3 to give them a little more flexibility?

It’s nuts but I’m not sure they really have a choice.

For his part I bet he thinks he can deliver another CL there. Gonna be interesting for sure. It’s very early but as of right now Atleti has to be the favorite in la liga.

there is always some twist, hard to parse or under handed with that club, if barca was a publicly traded company we'd find a bunch of put options were owned by the corporation so they could rich off the crash

That’s probably the only way they could make the money work for Messi and his crew. He takes a “pay cut” in name only. His salary is stretched out over years beyond which both parties expect him to be at the club. He probably has a clause that allows him to leave the club each summer of this contract. Barcelona had little to no leverage considering their financial situation. Overpaying for Messi right now (he apparently had a great Copa) is better than trying to sign players worse than him with money they don’t have. Messi definitely is the big winner of this. Barcelona have kicked the problem down the road while giving themselves a real chance to compete the next couple of years and hoping the money starts coming in.

Wow. I just read that Gianluigi Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer. How was such a good goalkeeper let go for free?

Milan were naive enough to think Donna would eventually take a home club friendly deal. Was never gonna happen with Raiola.

Anybody got Dutch football insight? This Donyell Malen is set to join Dortmund and frankly I'm tired of hearing about him already.

Transfer is supposed to be between 3 to 5 mil.

Well they should enjoy the benefits of oil state.

Oil State should also enjoy the benefits of running down the value of their league

The league is on the brink of bankruptcy, yet you have the biggest team there outspending the entire continent put together. Something doesn't add up, does it?

They are just waiting for the superleague balloon payment bailout. Flo is working overtime to take care of the problem, no need to be worried or responsible here.

None of the financial results released yesterday scream responsible. Cutting down your net debt and finishing the year with a profit in the midst of a pandemic is borderline suicidal.

I mean, at that price for a young goal scorer, how can you go wrong? I know nice goal stats in the Eredivisie don't always translate to better leagues. OTOH, sometimes they do.

Messi will play those two mandatory contract years and if he leaves or retires they'll trick him and stop paying him.

I don't believe for a minute that Barca haven't included some weird backdoor into the contract to wiggle out of it.

He's not trolling PSG, he's just an idiot, and I say that affectionately.

    Okay.

So Ramos is an idiot because his infant son is acting like an infant?

No, no. I think people are looking at this and thinking he's making fun of PSG for not having any Champions Leagues because that's what they get from it, when really he saw it and all he thought was 'I'm going to do my best to win PSG their first CL' if he thought anything, and he didn't consider how other people would interpret it, both Madrid fans and PSG fans/their rivals.

He likes so much stuff on Instagram, he's going to get in even more trouble with PSG and/or Madrid fans at some point.

Throw ins with the foot = everything is a corner kick.

Also, imagine how all the dumbasses laughed at Florentino for saying the matches have to become shorter and FIFA is trying out 30 minute halves.
