Can't put the blame solely on the players, like you said, clubs are treating players like assets in a business transaction. Goes both ways. Can't expect the player to be loyal when the club isn't.
I've never ordered a jersey in any sport other than football, and occasionally baseball, with a players name or number. I've always recognized that I support the club, no matter who plays or coaches. The players and coaching staff are simply employees of the club, and they come and go. I always get a blank jersey. Only way that changes is this year's jersey, I might get a Coates one simply because be improved to much and was THE catalyst to us being champs. Other than that, got a Madison Bumgarner jersey as he won 3 rings for us and was instrumental in every single one, despite the fact that he plays for a rival club now. Zero regrets. João Mario, on the other hand, was always a subpar player. Anyone that got his jersey is stupid enough as it is. Dude was never that good.
Lmao yeah, I really need to take up that mentality. I’ve got Moutinho, Gelson and William in my collection. Almost got JM after 15/16 season but went Slimani instead. Last one I got was No name, no sponsor though, but it was the year before last, not my favourite shirt.
Easy to take 50% cut when you earn €1.44m a week salary alone. Barca's wage structure is screwed up. Plus his new contract has a whole lot of non-salary perks for the future. He's already been bankrupting the club No wonder no-one wants to leave, heck Umtiti is on like €248,000 a week! Griezmann on €700,000+
Yeah, Messi isn’t giving up any $. He is restructuring it so they can get out of hot water and finally make their free agent signings offices.
Lol Messi is holding Barca hostage, big reason the my are in a financial state they are is his ridiculous contract. Lost count of the number of times he’s publicly threatened to leave too.
To join in on the "Stupid kit" game. I have a Moutinho kit from 2008 - I loved him at the time, such a shame Have a Coentrao kit that was pressed the day we lost to Atletico Madrid in the Europa League - Why you ask? I hung out with the portuguese U20's World cup team in Canada back in 2007 (when I was only 17) and Coentrao was just someone I thought was cool (was just before he signed for benfica) so it felt like fate when he joined Sporting no matter how he actually played. Only other named kit is Bruno from a few years ago, the other 14 kits are all blank, and that's how they'll be staying from now on
Remember Matheus Pereira? Made a post saying he wanted out of WBA because he had a big contract waiting in Saudi Arabia and he got his wish. Signed for AL Hilal
Well, he made the post after their coach said Matheus wanted nothing to do with West Brom. Then Matheus said he had a big offer he wanted to pursue and went to Saudi ********ing Arabia. Thank god we didn't keep this fool around
I remember when everyone was bending over for him as the next big thing that was never playing regularly - I can see why. He left during a turbulent period but I doubt even Amorim would want to keep him around right now.
This is one thing I hope Amorim can turn around. Culture. The academy pumps out talent but there’s been serious issues with professionalism. I thought Matheus Pereira and Gelson were gonna be the next big products from the academy, but between the ears isn’t there. I gave up on Gelson when he got booked for wearing that shirt in support for Ruben Semedo, if I remember we had a big game the following week he was out for because of the booking. Possibly v Porto.
I think we tend to overrate our talent by a pretty significant margin. Gelson is the perfect example, what has he done since leaving? I think the culture stems from the president, and we have notoriously treated our players poorly in the past. Seems like Varanadas has done a good job turning that around so far.
Daniel Carrico leaves China and moves to Spanish 2nd division club Almeria. Fwiw an okay gig for someone in his early 30s to get some more years of income before retirement

Rafael Leao scored AC Milan's lone goal in their 1-2 loss vs Atletico Madrid They probably would've stood a better chance if Kessie didn't get ejected in the first half
