Just played the recording of the post game show. Highlight: Bret Hildbrand promoting their special one hour pregame show next week. He says he, Jordan and Neil will have "a three way" I'm setting the DVR right now.
I only have a vague reccollection of Ohio State athletics, who Gordon Gee is, and what this is in reference too, and I still laughed.
Guys. We are 3-1 deep between the X and the 5. After not owning a One and owning two Ps4s, I can with all honesty and no fangirl bias say that the Series X is a lot more fun right now. Game Pass is a fantastic deal. We are playing games that we might never have. My kids are playing games that do not have ads (think all those pointless ftp mobile games). The newest FIFA is available. The Show.
Unpopular Opinion: Porter's shushing of the crowd afterwards was silly. We are the Champions, who managed a draw against against a moribund infant franchise that has been the laughing stock of the league for two years. It elevates FCC to a place they don't yet deserve. More popular opinions: God, what a strike from Lucas. The defense needs to figure it out. Afful. Mensah. Vito. Get well soon Josh Williams. Twice in two weeks this team has fought back from two down. That bodes well for belief down the road, but damnit....stop making things so difficult on ourselves.
Of course it was silly. Add it to yet another bullet of Porter’s childish antics in his theater of passion. I mean, he coaches sports, hang.
1. Lucas is the best player in the history of the club. Set piece magic, thunder strikes, and tenacity. He rarely loses the ball and doesn’t get outmuscled, even when back to goal. Magic. 2. The grey jersey still looks like a training top. Because it’s the same color as the training top. They need to mix in black shorts or socks and it would look better. 3. Miguel Berry’s goal once again very good.
And I can draw a circle around Toronto, who NE just lost to at home. Guess where Toronto is in the standings, dead last. So if the team that is dead last in the league, can beat NE at home with an interim coach, why can’t the defending MLS champs beat them at their stadium opener? What excuse do you have for that?
I thought yesterday's game was awesome, for reasons that I;m sure you have already covered. I am extremely broken at the moment, and feel as though I should be reaching out. Not sure why I'm even posting right now.
His immature antics are starting to get real old. You can live with them when he gets 3pts. When he doesn’t, well they are embarrassing.
But is it also genius? By behaving this way, all of the attention is focused on Porter's behavior and not on the team that has been struggling and could continue to do so for the next few weeks. These antics relieve some of the pressure on the players.
1 Zelarayán is in fact a Wizard if only we had another player of his quality up top. 2 Vito doesn’t fit our style of play / formation he has no speed and can’t defend in space / out wide. I’ll say it again we need another CB more than anything else. Josh should start and honestly for right now give me Keita . I’d rather him learn and take a athletically better defender than have Vitos passing, experience , turtle like quality etc… 3 agree totally about the line up we should have kept LZ & Nagbe in their natural positions. 4 I’m a firm believer in look good play good , this new stadium jersey is meh but the kit combination is hideous. Also between the kits and ugly logo ( which actually looks good as a secondary) we apparently have no taste of fashion. I think if the shorts and socks matched the grey & white top it would look better. Sucks MLS won’t let us have 3 kits because we are stuck looking stupid for the remainder of the season 5 Cincinnati is a joke 6 i want a series x Xbox I’m jealous 7 we desperately need to win our next match
Here is what I posted over on the American College Board I frequent. (they have one thread dedicated to soccer: https://www.cfb51.com/big-ten/~soccer-thread~/574/) Wow! Hell was Real last night. Cincinnati scored the fastest goal in MLS this year with a 33 second WTF moment. Cincinnati got their 2nd goal, Columbus had one of their defenders sent off, and 6 yellow cards were issued in the 1st half. All look hopeless for our Black and Gold champions ... until the 45+ minute where Zelarayan (Columbus's all star midfielder) blasted a rocket from 30 yards out that the goalie could only drop his jaw and watch zoom past for a goal. Invigorated our heroes came out second half (still a man down) but made TTBU (That Team Below Us, I'm telling you TTUN should borrow this acronym) seem like they were missing the player, and in the 77th minute Zelarayan drew numerous defenders and made a beautiful assist to a rookie sub to score the equalizer. Fans were literally quoting Gorden Gee's famous "Our Greatest Win Ever." for the amazing comeback TIE Columbus just had with Cincinnati.
Combine Stott and Unkel and you get half a ref. Add the one from last week and you still only have a half a ref.
He has the look of a kid who just swiped those Cheetos from the kid a few rows below who wasn’t paying attention.
4 - The Gray & White tops with the Black and Yellow bottoms looks bad. The patterns are also a horrible mash up; with the Triangle Speed tops, three stripe shorts and checkered socks. I mean pick a theme and run with it. I wonder if there was such a huge kickback over dropping the yellow jersey that the FO was like we have to keep yellow shorts and socks, but they never updated those shorts/socks for this year? What is this MLS Policy that we can't have 3 uni's? Because unless I'm wrong we totally have worn 4 this year: (Champion Black, Speed White, Juneteenth, and Ocean Blue. We also have a pride Jersey, but I don't think it's been worn by the team.) 6 - I'm a big fan of the next gen consoles, games look amazing on my 4k tv. I got the PS5 through Sony Direct, and pay $40 bucks a year for their Plus membership, (Microsoft has something similar) I get 3 games a month and over 30 games through their plus collection. I also bought the Spider-man game. Me and the kids have been having a blast with it.
When we out at KC for the STC stuff, a few KC fans below us in the section got into a tizzy. They started yelling at us that we were too loud and we were saying some not great words. Of course most of us ignored them, but well you know my better half. He let them hear it right back. “You know this is a soccer stadium. I am not sure what you were expecting the experience to be like.” To be fair, I am sure not many opposing fans come out to Kansas City… Still he has caused me to pause and keep him from getting in a fight at a soccer stadium more times than I would want to publicly recount. I like to think I married well.
Excuse? Did you see the team we put on the field? Mostly rookies and second-stringers. You are acting like the squad that started the Cup was playing last night.
