Colombian League would be very cool if it is in HD. Back the World Cup Qualifying the big CONCACAF games this weekend/next week will all be on Paramount. I was kind of hoping at least one of them on Saturday would be on CBS Sports though.
Look into 247sports.com You can get a good deal on an annual subscription and that includes Paramount +
Apologies for my initial post. I should have recognized that the World Soccer Talk listing was problematic since there was nothing official from CBS. Now the Paramount + listing is taken off the matches and--as I said above--there is nothing on the app. It must have been just an error at World Soccer Talk.
Does anyone if Paramount is employing all the English announcers for the Brasilerao and Primera, or are these just part of the world feed who are employed by the production/distribution companies?
I believe Fanatiz are employing those guys. Some of them are familiar faces and are very good (eg. Jon Cotterill, Peter Coates, Charles Mills) It's obviously easy money for Fanatiz to just farm off the English rights to Paramount in the US...
Idle speculation here but, when US domestic Copa Lib and Copa Suda rights go up in 2022 do you think Para+ would be a fit or even interested? Would Commebol?
I would be surprised if Libertadores on Paramount+ doesn't happen because that would fit well with the UEFA and now AFC Champions League as well as having the Brazil Serie A and the Argentina Primera. But then again there are a couple of things to think about: Why would Disney/ESPN put in a bid for the Libertadores/Sudamericana with all of their other commitments on the same timeslot between their networks and ESPN+? Probably because of the same reason why they attained the La Liga Spanish language rights when that could have easily went to TUDN at least on a sublicense basis. They want more penetration into the Spanish language market for ESPN+. The odds of that are still low if you ask me. With the CONMEBOL club rights expiring in 2022 prior to the WC in November, would that be a perfect time for beIN to close shop in the US or just operate in the same manner as GolTV? Fubo may be in play here since they're establishing a relationship with CONMEBOL with the WC Qualifiers. As someone who has Fubo I'll be among the first to say they did not lay the foundation fully when they started broadcasting the qualifiers a month ago, but the potential is definitely there. I've always been a fan of their streaming resolution and interface. When the remaining WCQ matches start coming in thick and fast this September, it would be Fubo's opportunity to thicken the plot.
It was announced during the Mexico x Nigeria game on TUDN that the Brasileirao and the Argentine leagues will be on PrendeTV starting on July 17th for free.
I just posted about this in the Gold Cup thread. The on demand content is cut with commercials. It takes about 2 hours to get through a 90 minute match with no real pre-game, half-time, or post-game so the extra 30 minutes +/- is commercials.
The Europa Conference League qualifying starts today. Does anyone know what plans CBS has for this competition? Also, when do thy start airing the Champions League? Is it during the playoff round or at the group stage? I'd love to see some of the qualifying matches for both competitions (and Europa league). Am I remembering right that those rights normally held by the clubs?
Today Paramount Plus had the HJK v Buducnost Champions League qualifier. Tomorrow they are showing Slovan Bratislava v Shamrock Rovers, Maccabi Haifa v Kairat Almaty and Dinamo Zagreb v Valur.
Champions League rights start with the Playoff Round. Europa League & Europa Conference start with the Group Stage. Until then, all matches sold by home teams so they can show up anywhere. But I expect Paramount+ to grab a handful of matches (already started) with ESPN possibly showing a few but likely not until 3rd Round... SA
I don't know if there are commercials during the live broadcasts. I would assume not. But if you watch on delay, you will have 2 lengthy interruptions during each half. You can't ffwd through the commercials. Univision does not edit out time, so that's the only plus. I get free versus pay. I go with cheap Hulu and refill the water glass, get a snack, text friends, during the commercials. But for soccer, I'm not deal with that if there is a low-cost pay option. The annual rate on Paramount+, ESPN+, and Peacock is much better than dealing with commercials for me.
Saw that Paramount + will start airing the Coppa Italia games on the weekend of August 13th. That's the very early rounds. First time ever in the US to get games that early.
