The only thing left for the Leafs to do is hire Bruce Boudreau and take that streak as far as humanly possible.
So if I'm reading the Ali Adnan story correctly, they basically let him go because his visa situation couldn't get sorted out and therefore was taking up a roster slot for someone that never played? I wonder if playing for an American team would be any better, from what I remember he seemed to be a decent player (unless they explored a trade but he didn't want to play anywhere else in MLS).
Well he was on a designated player contract as a left back......and takes up an international roster spot as well....those two facts might have a lot to do with no teams willing to trade for him.
I think that had something to do with it. “And still there was no reason given as to why his visa was not obtained this time around, no reason from the (U.S.) State Department,” said Schuster. “Never, ever. The answer was always the same. ‘There are new protocols, there are new rules, the Biden administration changed things.’
Oh Alex Schuster.....same thing happened to Philly's Corey Burke. Philly sent him on loan to Austria while his Visa issues were worked out. Took nearly 2 years to get it settled though.
I’m not so sure Curtis was really THE guy that brought Marsch in. The hiring of Marsch coincided with NYRB change in philosophy of no more big name signings and switching to the younger cheaper pressing teams we have now. It also was the system used by all RB teams globally prior to Marsch. I’m guessing the mother ship made the decision and the hiring of Curtis was because he had familiarity of MLS rules. I think Marsch was friends with someone in the RB hierarchy.
Since hockey talk is in this thread, what the ******** happened for a Columbus Blue Jacket goalkeeper to die from a mortar to the chest while in a hot tub?
Fireworks. I was up until 2am this morning for no reason other than Lubbock lets idiots buy thousands of dollars of professional grade fireworks and launch them out of their yards. Every year, yards catch on fire, pets freak out and are lost permanently, veterans with PTSD have their own freak out moments, and occasionally someone gets injured. This goalie was at a party in Michigan where apparently they let the same kind of things happen, and the mortar shifted before launching, sending that particular firework straight into his chest while he was trying to get out of a hot tub filled with people. I'm probably supposed to be sympathetic, but I just don't have any for people that get hurt or killed doing something this stupid.
In the UK kids programs and commercials in early November used to be full of the victims of previous years firework stupidity. I went to one Guy Fawkes party where the mature adults collected the spent fireworks and threw them in the bonfire. That went well. They're still legal.
I was hearing booms up until around 4. The past week has seen families actually drive into the neighborhood, set off fireworks in common areas and then drive off. The past couple of years have been special. I was even hearing some during daytime (~11am) today.
Yes I've been hearing fireworks this afternoon. My back yard faces a big hill so the booms echo loudly. My pets don't seem to mind.
