If Klinsmann were smart, he'd go coach a second bundesliga team, or Championship team, and rebuild his reputation from scratch. If he earns a promotion to a first division, that's his only way back to big-time coaching. He'd have to work for cheap though, which I doubt he's willing to do. At the international level, a team like Japan, South Korea, or Australia might give him a chance. In UEFA, might have a shot at a team like Austria, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia, Czech Republic, Romania or Norway. Or an African side like Senegal, Morocco, Nigeria, or Egypt (the Bob Bradley route).
I don't think any 4th division team would hire him in Germany. He is persona non grata throughout the western world. He could possibly get a job with Qatar or Saudi Arabia.
Getting touted for Tottenham job by his broadcast colleague: Nuno Espírito Santo becomes the 483rd person to turn down the @SpursOfficial job. I’m working with someone who actually would love the job and loves the club. @J_Klinsmann would be a great fit: charismatic, knowledgeable, experienced and a former player and fan’s favourite.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) June 28, 2021
(see first page of thread) When you hear Hertha, run for your life. 250 million euros literally down the toilet. "The club were able to pay off a portion of their debt and spend money for new players, with Klinsmann acting as the charismatic mouthpiece. One transfer story, in particular, shows the dynamic after Windhorst's arrival: Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek was under contract at AC Milan at the time and in search of a new club. When he and his agent were first approached by Hertha, they did not think much of what they heard. One phone call with Klinsmann later, they were convinced that Hertha were the perfect choice. The deal cost Berlin €24 million in transfer fees alone and has not paid off so far, with just 11 goals in 45 league games over the past two seasons." https://www.espn.com/soccer/hertha-...-promised-bundesliga-glory-so-what-went-wrong
Seems that he could head up South Korea's men if he's willing to live there: 🚨 Jürgen Klinsmann is the KFA's top candidate to replace Paulo Bento. Negotiations have progressed considerably, with salary and coaching staff issues largely resolved. The main hurdle seems to be whether Klinsmann will accept living in Korea for the next four years. pic.twitter.com/2D6t8b70dc— Jason (Hanshin) Lee (@Jasons_JaysHub) February 23, 2023
He's going to live in South Korea now, I suppose: https://www.si.com/soccer/2023/02/27/jurgen-klinsmann-named-south-korea-coach-2026-world-cup
Not sure where to put this news, but Klinsi is sort of an American... https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/02/27/jurgen-klinsmann-south-korea/ Jurgen Klinsmann, the former manager of the men’s national soccer teams for the United States and Germany, has been named head coach of South Korea’s men’s team, the Korea Football Association announced Monday. The KFA said Klinsmann’s deal will take him through the 2026 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
I'm surprised HoustonHoya hasn't divebombed into this thread as proof that Klinsmann was right to leave Donovan off the 2014 roster all along.
(Asian Cup) Klinsmann blames officiating for key Malaysian goals in draw https://t.co/CczxGtvEMZ— Yonhap News Agency (@YonhapNews) January 25, 2024
Players and coaches for South Korea were dejected after conceding a late equalizer in the 15th minute of stoppage time in a humiliating 3-3 draw with Malaysia. Klinsmann's reaction was different.
He was pleased for Malaysia. If South Korea get past Saudi Arabia, I think we'll see that there was method to his madness.
His squad moves to the semifinals: Jurgen Klinsmann's men who were beaten finalists against same Australia in the 2015 final get their revenge and will take on Jordan for a place in the finals.#AsianCup2023 #GRAMMYs pic.twitter.com/iXQGxC8SCi— FULLTIME (@fulltime90mins) February 2, 2024
Losing a continental semifinal in a massive upset to a team ranked below #75 in the world? Haven't heard that story from Jurgen before. 0 SOT with Son in the team is inexcusable.
Korea fan here. Utterly frustrating to see. This is first time for Korea in Asian Cup history (since 1956) to never have a shot on target in a game... Jordan keeper could've taken a 95 min nap and we still will not have scored... To not get a shot on target with two guys within striking distance of golden boot in the Premier League... The backlash to get Klinsmann (and the Korean Football Association president) OUT has been swift and harsh in the Korean media. But the reports are because he made the semi in Asian Cup, there is a large payment needed to fire him.... whereas if they lost earlier.... no penalty... I've heard the warnings before from previous players Klinsmann has coached in US and elsewhere... that he literally has ZERO tactical instructions... I was skeptical... but now I believe...
If Korea doesn't fire him now, they will have to fire him later. Why wait? Waiting longer only hurts the next manager's ability to get the team to where it needs to be. Waiting longer also just makes the problems worse and harder to fix.
