Makes my point spectacularly the last real "star" player for Spain to come out of the cantera was Iker, in what like 1999. You are basically arguing against the club when you want our cantera products to fail simply because they don't wear the shirt anymore. There's a reason players like Mbappe don't run to the club the first chance (or second) chance they get. You might take a clue from the American college sports system that celebrates whenever one of their alumni makes significant accomplishments even if the institution does not directly benefit. I get that ragging on Morata is your thing but it doesn't take away the fact that he's a cantera product and if he were successful it would mean the cantera produced another succes story.
How is it overrated? The advantage is quite obvious through hard data. Of course that advantage disappeared to some extent with empty stadia during COVID but the advantage is coming back as the fans steadily return.
So for instance, La Liga home teams in 2018-19 won 168 games and lost only 102. Equivalent to just over 61 points per 38 games - good enough for top 4 in the table. I can do this for other leagues as well, but do we really need to bother over such an obvious issue?
The stache is making a comeback and I love it. I've seen a few kids at the school I teach at rocking mullets too. All we need is the cutoff sweaters and cutoff jean shorts and we're good to go baby.
And we also watch games and its super obvious the home advantage. Its kinda funny how UEFA based their decision on knockout data (or at least thats what I understood from their post). If home advantage is gone because of the away goal rule, then the away goal rule is working perfectly fine and doing what its meant to do. I think its more apt to look at league data and like you've shown its definitely a thing. I think scrapping the away goal rule from ET might make sense, but scrapping it altogether is dumb.
But that's data for you. It can be useful, but it can't tell you the whole story. Context is important. They'll do this for another five years and the data will tell them that more ties are statistically won in the first leg, or there's less goals scored over both legs and then they'll switch back.
I hope so but I'm not so sure. We lived with the away goals for 55 years. I don't think its something that we will switch to and from regularly. For me, the AG wasn't about the # of goals scored anyway. It makes the games more exciting and its a better tiebreaker than PKs are the two big positives.
Wow that long ? I thought it was implemented in the 90s . Libertadores only adopted it in the 2000s .
Wow, like @celito I thought was implemented in the 2000s. I stand corrected! I too thought the away goals made the game more exciting. It made the away team so much more dangerous. Maybe part of the reason they're changing it is because people have a hard time understanding it and end up looking like the confused Math lady meme.
I guess, but the math is terribly simple. It rarely requires counting past the number 3. The dumbest part of it all for me is making this rule change while we are playing CL/EL games behind closed doors and/or in neutral venues. I am a huge proponent of the away goal, but even I'll admit it felt a little absurd giving teams added credit for away goals in games played at essentially neutral venues (e.g. Man City against Dortmund in Budapest). So making this fairly permanent decision during the only year when the AG comes across as a bit silly is what really burns my ass! Its like if I lived in northern Scotland and didn't want a convertible because its cold and rainy most of the time, but then one day the sun finally comes out so I go out and sign a 10-year lease for a convertible.
Ramos is 4 caps away from breaking the international cap record. He is now second with 180. My post has nothing to do with Luis Enrique's decision not to select him. I am not that interested in that topic. However, Ramos could have been breaking the record against Croatia. Bader Al-Mutawa of Kuwait is the next active player after Ramos. He is two behind with 178. Ronaldo has 176 caps and he is the next active player. The cap race is something to think about after the Euros. I do not know enough about the topic. The Middle Eastern teams play more international matches. I do not know anything about Bader Al-Mutawa. He is still playing in the WCQers. Ronaldo is unlikely to catch up if that is the case. And if Ramos would receive a callup after the Euros.....
You think developing young talent is a non topic, the President of the club has made it one if the biggest priorities in recent years.
Lukaku "Frankly from what I saw in training with Eden Hazard yesterday he is almost 100%. I don't want to talk too much about it so it's the only thing I'm going to say." 1408443596433461253 is not a valid tweet id

This is not even limited to online. I remember Bale and Jese's cars getting attacked in 2015 after a Clasico loss. Such a toxic culture being developed and going back to the hooligan culture. Pool hooligans attacked RM team bus recently. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...areth-bale-jese-fans-attack-clasico-barcelona
Some people sadly have nothing worthwhile in their lives. That inevitably leads to this sort of behavior.
