10 Canadian men is like 8 us men. We need to finish. I hope that the first one will begat another one or two.
Even Arriola is not able to finish a sitter. It's embarrassing how bad DC is at finishing (even as they do better at a lot of other things)
We need a midfielder who can ball and a real forward and it's game on. It's dire on offense but we're a real team at least, not a joke.
It must be even wierder to go from a packed home crowed to the piped in noise of am empty stadium. A tie on the road would suck at this point.
I was a sunshine pumper until 2010 and a decently happy fan until 2013. Who wants to think (know) everything sucks and be unhappy?
Apologies...but you've had a solid 7 years of realism. Time to shine! I too think things are looking up! Now let's get a stinking goal and fly home happy.
Well we went from being a completely incompetent team of 30 players to a somewhat competent team that shoots 30 incompetent shots.
That was extremely frustrating but I've got to give credit to Diop; he had an incredible game and his perseverance was laudable.
Remember in preseason when we were supposed to be concerned about possibly losing lots of games with scores like 5-4?
Embarrassing. Reminded me of the inability to beat a 9 man Cincy team two years ago. Kamara, Robertha and Reyna are all deck chairs. This team needs a cold blooded finisher -- he isn't on the roster right now.
Oh well. This team needs some scoring confidence big time. Keeper back line midfield pretty good... Another big game by Pines. Bright future.
What happened to the VAR on that shot by Nyeman? The defender handled the ball in the air, and then again when it was on the ground! That doesn't change the fact that DC can't score in the run of play. If DC could shoot with a modicum of danger, we should have won going away.
It is frustrating because this is a MUCH better team to watch then last year without any real infusion of new talent, and they actually look like a team with an offensive identity (against bad teams at least). However, if you can't put the ball in the net, you don't really have anything.
They really are an interesting team. Even when they aren't connecting passes, it's not like it was where you know they'll be defending for the next several minutes. No, they are going to get the ball back in short order and try again. So when I watch them now, I have a little bit of (misguided?) confidence that it's going to be fine. Obviously the attempts at scoring goals were many and really poorly taken. They need to play at the same high speed but slow it down in their heads. Have the confidence to take the right touches to set themselves up or the confidence to pick a corner and bang it home. Three straight shut outs? That's nice. It won't last forever, but they are pretty buttoned up right now.
