Wyoming are going the female route too. JMU associate head coach is the favorite to be the new leader of the cowgirls Speaking of JMU, their former associate head coach, the wee man Stuart Gore will be the new head coach at Northwestern State. Great hire for that program.
I dig her. I kind of hope, for her sake, she doesn't prematurely get caught up in the HC thing, stays patient a little longer and not damage her rep on that unwinnable place. Surely she could get one of the other "recruitable" locales within that conference. But she would know, more than us, that she is @ a disadvantage for job opps due to her twitter pride in a boyfriend.
Thank you for the most rousing endorsement of college women's soccer I've read recently! I hope you're being sarcastic and the teams around you or that you root for are not that terrible keeping the ball. Although you've just described how UNC won about 20 championships for other threads... There is a very very long list of former college coaches who thought the job was going to be easy! I remember thinking when I started as a college coach that players will come play at my school if I just ask them to! I learned quickly. AZ should be going for NWSL head coaches, or the equivalent, not the assistant. They could probably pay a good European club coach to come over. I mean Moros just increased her salary probably 5X! But assuming she is a smart person, as she is a Duke grad, she'll hire good assistants with the local and regional recruiting knowledge she doesn't have. Smart leaders do that kinda stuff. But the fact that the crap picture on the press release is the best one they could find for her is not a good sign
I do think it’s amazing that now she will be getting paid higher than majority of NWSL head coaches. People don’t realize how low some of their wages are, and many have club coaching job along with their head coaching duty
As an economist, my chimp modeled the trickle down math for a (barely) corporate entity running in the red and with negative forecast projections (i.e no fans, no interest). Without the direct, 100% financial support of either a profitable men's entity, of which the MLS is not, the direct 100% financial support of a shoe/apparel line (they ain't stupid) or the direct or indirect support of the Federal taxpayer (US Soccer, non-prof status, etc), salaries will continue at these levels.
They named an interim (associate HC) and he is coaching this upcoming season: "We are excited to have Jim take on the head coaching responsibilities this year and look forward to what he and the program will accomplish in the immediate future."
on the northwestern state website. Big hire for them taking the little guy. Can see that program being an NCAA tourney team the next couple of years.
I think a lot of people turned could be turned off by the job. Previous coach had success compared to what he took over, and left after a 2 seasons. So either it is not a great place to work or admin doesn't want a coach that pushes players to win. You would think anyone they call is picking up the phone and calling the previous staff to ask questions. Either way, season is 6 weeks out so not a good thing for the players or the program to be without a coach in place.
Kagan didn’t leave he was fired for verbal abuse of his athletes from what I have heard from several people who know what happened.
Was he really fired? The official OSU press release says MK left because of COVID-19. Why would OSU lie or cover up what really happened? So you think it has something to do with verbal abuse, or a connection to Tom Anagnost, and not COVID-19? Because that is the buzz on the sidelines at the ECNL events, but more about the connection to TA. So the OSU press release was fake news? The AD give him a pass?
"The filing also references the dismissal of former EWU soccer coach Chad Bodnar, who was fired last month, claiming Hickey actively and publicly commented on her desire to terminate Bodnar." https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2...laims Schuller, pay than her male counterparts.
So is OSU covering up what really happened? This wasn’t about COVID-19? But the official press release! Huh…
What do you expect them to say? They are not going to slander him. Rarely does a school say the coach was fired.
Rarely does a school let the coach give a quote or be the one to tell the team they are leaving if they get fired. It’s usually a one or two sentence release when a coach is let go.
It is only slander if OSU were making a false statement damaging his reputation. So OSU must be telling the truth in the press release, it was COVID-19, nothing more to see. But if it was something else, and OSU are not being truthful in their press release, well that could end up being a problem too. Seems folks in Corvallis have some questions.
I heard Oregon State was courting the lesser Rapinoe. She's not sure about the commitment and taking away from her "business", yet another "wellness" thing, I think, As I say to youth club industry coordinators...get off the plank and get a job, sis. Anyway, unsure of my source on this, grain of NaCl but could have wheels, considering the college letter love culture.
I have no idea if this guys was fired or not, but there were rumors he was going to get fired for abusive behavior prior to him being out. Curious for sure. But, yes, universities will smudge the truth to save face for both parties. They will let him leave on a resignation to save from litigation. When I said slander I was not referring to the legal definition. I was referring to simple human decency. Also, OSU or any university doesn't want the attention of a scandal if there is one. Yes, fired coaches get to release statements sometimes. There are often exit negotiations.
I heard that as well but she is skeptical of her prospects for success there. She would take the Dux.
