Looks like the Esgaio deal is off. Sporting will not go above 5M for the player, while Braga is being stubborn and wants 10M.

We're now looking at alternatives. Pipa, spanish RB from Huddersfield, is an option.

The other big rumour recently is that Matheus Nunes could be close to leaving for Everton. Bruno Lage is the new manager and apparently wants the midfielder. We're asking for 20 million.

Otherwise, I think our other big task is offloading once again so many unwanted players. Rosier is still for sale. So is Sporar. Would be nice to recover the investments on them. Battaglia also needs to go, his salary is way too high.

Thanks your right. I meant Fonseca lol. I was reading Lage wanted Palhinha at Wolves but we want minimum 30 mill

Sounds like Joao Mario deal could be in trouble - apparently there was a verbal agreement for 7.5M euros, but the official proposal we made days later was for 3.5M + 2M in objectives. Inter didn't like that and it could mean we need to look elsewhere to replace him.

With the Esgaio deal looking to be dead, we're turning to alternatives and one of them is Daniel Wass. The 32 year old Valencia player is a utility player, able to play RB or midfield. He's in his last year of contract and could be available for 2-3M euros

Matheus Nunes continues to be linked to Everton and there could be an agreement to sell for 18M + 2M objectives. Considering we bought him for less than a million, this would be a great deal, an important player for us this season but not a starter. If we can hold on to Palhinha and replace Matheus with someone like Ugarte for relatively cheap I'd be very happy.

Wass is a solid player. Coming out of a crazy dysfunctional situation in Valencia. I’d like to add him to the squad if the price is right.

I'd like J.Mario to stay, but I also want Bragança's playing time increased. He deserves it and I think he'll have a exceptional year for us next season controlling the mid.

Ideally we’d have both as I think they bring different qualities to the team

We'd have to go on the market to replace Mario now. Ugarte would replace Matheus Nunes if he gets sold.

We've signed a young winger from Ghana named Ishahaku, he was linked to Liverpool. He should start in the B team but good to see the scouting team working

    According to Record:

Daniel Wass is negotiating salary terms after a deal in principle was reached with Valencia.

Jovane's exit is looking more and more likely and clubs like Watford or Leeds could be interested. A 20M euro deal could be enough to sell.

Ruben Vinagre continues to be the #1 name to replace Nuno Mendes should he be sold. However, Benfica is also interested and a stall right now means we could lose him. Of course, things are dependent on player sales.

After his positive debut and in particular a viral moment where he left Kante in the dust and megged Pogba, Palhinha's interest has suddenly shot up. Sporting say they wont negotiate for less than 30 million, although I hope we can hold out for longer. I feel he's one of the players we desperately need to keep if we want the team to defend the title next season. It's already looking like Joao Mario won't return and Nuno Mendes future is still in the air.

Agree. He is part of the team’s spine. Unless a big offer comes in I’d hold on for another season. Having CL football should help a lot.

Abola says Vinagre is very close to coming on loan with option to buy…. He’s the replacement for Mendes if he is sold this summer…I believe Benfica was also looking at him….We will see I guess

Yup been linked for weeks now. I don't mind loans with options to buy, but with Porro on the right also being on loan... we're gonna have to buy these guys eventually. I feel we're just waiting on player sales to balance everything.

I read somewhere that we have 20 mill to spend on players without selling anyone. So assuming we get in 3-4 good upgrades within that budget I'll be very happy.

Players that seem to be linked the most to us so far:

Daniel Wass (experienced utility player, could come for as low as 2 million)
Ruben Vinagre (he'd be expensive, but could come on loan + option to buy)
Ugarte (another Famalicao player, they're supposedly asking for 6 million for 50% in a similar deal to Pote)

Still feel we need another CB (Lyanco?), RW (Edwards?) and ST (Mario Gonzalez?) but I feel that would only happen with selling the likes of Nuno Mendes, Matheus Nunes or Jovane.

Mario Gonzalez who was linked to us joins Braga. Which means in a couple years we'll be buying him from Braga for 20 mill

Looks like Ruben Vinagre and Ugarte are closer to becoming SCP players. For the Left wing back we offered a loan and option to buy for 8.5M but Wolves are looking for a bit more. Regarding Ugarte the deal is imminent but I still believe either is waiting for a player sale (Matheus Nunes still being linked to Everton for example).

In the meantime it looks like we're signing a couple of free transfers, a 19 yr old centreback from Barça named Marsa and a 17 year old defender from Roma named Catena. Either would likely start in the B team

Every outlet is reporting Ricardo Esgaio is a done deal for 5.5M euros. We owned 20% of his rights and our good creditors Braga began by asking 10 mill, then 8, then 6. Looks like the final price will be 5.5 and Amorim gets his man.

As for the player, I do think he has grown at Braga, and also I do believe the formation we are using suits his qualities. We end up having 2 excellent options.

Also appears Vinagre is one step away from joining. This would be a loan + buy option

So we’re willing to do 5.5 mil for a backup in Esgaio, but can’t do it for Joao Mario??

Yea I don't understand the logic. I think the idea is that Esgaio can play multiple positions. It looks like they've set a value on Mario and don't want to renege from that. I get it. Mario doesn't exactly bring anything that another player can't provide: hold the ball and pass it backwards.

Didn’t Esgaio start as a Right winger with Sporting’s B team? Like mentioned above ^ he will probably be used in multiple spots. Feels like we have wasted 5 million or more on many mediocre players in the past, with Esgaio I guess we at least know the player we are getting instead of guessing on an unknown from elsewhere. It’s underwhelming to see a club pay to get back a youth player but gotta trust Amorim here.
