The motivations for league policies notwithstanding, they are league policies, and players need to abide by them or face consequences. Look, I'm not arguing Room is some sort of whackjob anti-vaxx conspiracy nut; I'm just arguing that he was - or at least, should have been - aware of the league's policy concerning vaccinations, and made a conscious decision to disregard a policy of his employer that renders him ineligible to do his job. That is simply unacceptable behavior, whether you're the guy who sweeps up the toilets after a match or you're the guy who puts fan's butts in their seats. We can argue all day and into the next week whether the league's policy is appropriate or simply a CYA/PA stance. But as someone upthread pointed out, regarding a marijuana policy of a potential employee, if you want to have and keep your job, there are policies by which you abide, whether you agree with them or not. Room chose to not abide by his employer's policy, and the team is (probably, but hopefully not) going to suffer by his absence.
#Crew96 injury report: Bradley Wright-Phillips out with a thigh injury. Artur still struggling with the hip injury. pic.twitter.com/aK6JO62hIh— Jacob Myers (@_jcmyers) June 18, 2021
Our D-Mids are getting super thin. Morris, Kitchen, Artur, Seb on loan... All we have left is that loan guy from Toronto. Parente can slot in, right?
No games for almost 3 weeks and more guys get hurt than get healthy…what are they doing at these practices?
Listening to Porter speak they are in NO rush to hurry anyone back. They want people healthy in October, not June.
As of right now the lots are scheduled to open at 1pm. Which is going to be interesting since the Nordecke is planning and publicizing a party that starts at 10am.
So, does anyone know why Room has to quarantine after playing for Curacao but he (and perhaps other Crew players) didn't have to after the trips for CCL? Is it MLS forcing him to quarantine or some government body?
Oh, and definitely an injury that adds ten minutes of stoppage time on top of the delayed ending. It's Historic Crew Stadium. "This is the way."
Perhaps it was high-risk behavior and/or high-risk contact as defined in the MLS Covid manual. Though I wonder if the manual has been updated since April 2021.
