Which is most worrying part. They just looks defeated, especially the way Nico & Lautaro just blew those close chances away. Both even had a chance where they could easily scores by just shoot it, but they passed it back to Messi who's basically futher away from the goal. Thats not sign of confidence.
According to recent news , Romero already training with the team and could possibly starts. I dont think he should , really. I'd just replace the frontlines and add Palacios. Just dont sub out players who does well in first half. You got 2 struggling forwards & Lo Celso providing great passes, but he replaced Lo Celso quickly instead... What game did Scolani watch? With the group stage now having 2 extra games, we're not in "do or die" situation.
Lo Celso was playing good so it’s hard to understand why he was subbed out, but we don’t see him train on a day-to-day basis to know how fit he really is. Maybe he just can’t handle a full 90 minutes atm A week ago in WCQ he didn’t even play the first fixture vs Chile, and vs Colombia he only saw about 50 minutes before being replaced. Remember that at the beginning of the year he was sidelined for several months for Tottenham due to injury. I have a feeling that substitution yesterday was premeditated and was going to happen regardless of his performance on the pitch. I assume both him and Palacios will get more and more minutes as the tournament progresses. Scaloni just seems to be trying to get them fully fit first.
Just noticed the NT will face Uruguay who haven't played since the WCQ. Then 3 days later, the NT will face Paraguay who would not have played for a week so both team will be fresh. Full team vs Uruguay and, although I don't take them lightly, I think we might have to do one or two rotations vs Paraguay.
The good thing is that they might not be on rhythm yet compare to us. Apart from 2018 chaos, Argentina usually put better performance in second match.
Where the OGs at? @argentine soccer fan , @Moishe , @RacingGirl — report for duty! Probably a long shot, but @cigar_city , @Pipiolo , @jimmi_moh, @NYC_COSMOS, @Siempre_Albiceleste (and the rest of you) too!
Nico Gonzalez heading to brighton. Good move for them if he stays healthy. We haven’t had good luck in the Uk. he played great last game shame that he wouldn’t start next game. Just lacked finishing but he has it in him.
For me, I'm disappointed with the move as I think he could play in a Europa league level team. Still on the young side though. I would still keep him in the starting XI as I understand he just returned from injury. Hopefully his finishing returns. I'm more disappointed with Lautaro's finishing though.
I’ve tagged @Arg10 a few times but no reply! He’s big-time now! Cmon, Mundo, drop by and say hello to your old friends!
I think people are overly critical of our midfield (yes, you know i am defending my guy). Paredes does his job as a #5 just fine, he is also the best long passer by far on the team but it is just not his role. I was watching this argentina vs brazil highlights from a friendly I think in 1999: Going up against one of the strongest brazil teams yes but man look at our lineup holy shit. Ayala, Samuel, Zanetti, Sorin...plus REDONDO and Veron in the middle. the abuse we got in midfield look how many chances brazil had I mean freakin ze roberto was running circles around our guys. I am sure if this forum was around back then we would ask for half the team to be replaced after that game
We seem to have rather bad luck with young defenders. Gonzalo Rodriguez was becoming a monster at 21 with Villareal before being ruled out of the 2006 WC with a serious knee injury. Our coaches also seem slow to pick players at the height of their powers. Caballero was overlooked and then picked when on the wane. Ditto for Armani. Or players like Campagnaro.
https://www.tycsports.com/amp/selec...juego-id350643.html?__twitter_impression=true Look at this crap. They expect us to play on this pitch….
Wow - that is ridiculous. That is why playing in South America is so much more difficult- the likes of Wales, Russia, Sweden, and even Holland, Germany, and Spain would struggle on these pitches and in the altitude of Bolivia or the heat of Barranquilla. Plus the traveling and the travel arrangements. And the all-out war that every game is here.
The worst part is that the NT have to play in that same field vs Paraguay as well. It's going to be hard for the NT to play their passing game in this field. The field is more suited for teams who are going to play long balls and crosses.
I’m always here pibe. Lurking mostly but here. Sucks when life gets in the way. I hope you everybody are well.
Can't really disagree with this: https://www.football365.com/news/feast-football-copa-america-brazil-lionel-messi
According to the latest reports, Cuti Romero will start vs. Uruguay..... but for LMQ, not Otamendi Expected line-up: Martínez; Montiel - Romero - Otamendi - Acuña; De Paul - Paredes - Lo Celso; Messi - Lautaro - Nico González/Di María Looks like you guys will be getting your wish with Acuña for Tagliafico
I suspect this will be Nico’s last chance to show that he is a starter. Third game to do something other than kick it straight to the goalie.
