That’s the first “sorry” I suspect anyone from that team has heard. Has given my daughter pause as she sees a revolving door of new paying players filter in with more empty promises. Kids aren’t supposed to feel that way about coaches - even the jaded teenagers.

With 24 on the roster I am thinking Eclipse.

But what the hell happens where a team loses 15 of 24?

I know the answer to this on the boys side 100% no doubt.

But given so many on this board are familiar with the girls game I’m curious: Can the best HS team beat a GA or ECNL team - even a u16 team?

My gut says no. But not sure it’s quite the blowout that it would be on the boys side.

Maybe in Illinois but nation wide - not a chance.

A u16 DA or ECNL team better be able to beat any high school team.

    Sockers days numbered at SC?

Bears just submitted a bid for Arlignton Race Track. The mayor of Palatine is on record saying they would work with Arlighton Heights in any way to see it through.

I cannot imagine that Soccer City and entire facility + the buildings behind SC will remain if this all goes through. If I am wrong, the traffic will be a complete nightmare on weekends.

    Rosters of 24???

Do the bottom 7 in that roster fill in with next group below?
Are their PA squads as over rostered?

That is sad for player and parents in that position

Wow. How long is the Bears lease they would be breaking at Soldier field? Really didn’t think it would be possible.

100% re crazy traffic in the fall 8 weekends of the year.

Just meant the #1 team in the state. That team, presumably has a handful of top ECNL/GA to begin with to make it #1.
Again boys side it’s not even a question and it’s not even close. But just didn’t know about girls side.

Nationwide #1 team would take down any ECNL/GA team?
    Is that what you’re saying?

The lease is peanuts to pay out when you consider they get it all at Arlignton - including a gambling license. They will break it for sure - it goes to 2033.

Best thing is maybe the CPD will lure more concerts from Wrigley Field and back to Soldiers Field which is the worst ever facility for just about anything ever!

No I have seen the 05 and 06 Sockers team play and frankly I don't think Barrington - which is 3A would give them a run for their money.

Now if you want to compare u18/u19 specifically the I doubt any high school team would stand a chance and that mostly comes down to mental and physical maturity on the field. My kid managed 3 goals and 7 assists this season on a very good HS team as a freshman. The juniors and seniors however were miles ahead in terms of maturity. Training and level of play does not always excelerate that. It comes from time and longer experience.

I don’t think Lyons or Libertyville have many or any girls in the DA/ECNL. Barrington probably has some. O’Fallon likely has the most based on the geography. Many of the Chicagoland area girls play year round on those clubs. On the boys side Naperville North won several state titles in a row with players almost exclusively from the Galaxy. A damn fine Galaxy team but one that likely would have been beat up by Sockers or the Fire.

Finding women coaches is an interesting topic. There are tons of accomplished women coaches in the college ranks on the women's side. There are a decent number of women coaching high school girls. But there have always been a sparse number coaching in youth soccer.

Some clubs will have younger women right out of college coaching mostly U-littles, but they don't stay around long. They get other jobs or quit when they have kids of their own. The only long-timers I can think of top of mind are Janet Albert, who is known more as a skills and 3v3 coach than a club coach (she did have her own club for a while), and Emina Zvizdich (good coach and person) who was at Palatine Celtic for many years and I think is at Barrington now.

IMO the youth coaching "profession" would benefit and be a lot more professional if there were more women coaches. Because women, not always but on average, have a higher level of emotional intelligence, there would be fewer jerks coaching kids. Unfortunately, youth soccer attracts way too many guys who are immature, insecure, and just flat out intolerable. In some cases, it's probably not the kind of environment that women want to coach in because unlike the real workplace, there's no one to enforce a sense of decorum.

Emina Zvizdich is a great selection but why not Cindy Martillaro? She's a former coach from Sockers. Janet Albert is also a former Sockers coach and from what I have been told - she'll never coach there again.

Because only yes men will work with DR now - talk to the coaches who have left and you clearly get that impression.

I just realized that I answered my own question just above this.

good posts guys! To Sherpas point re: emotional intelligence, totally agree.
Additionally I'd say there is a range of time for boys (early teen years?) that this is needed from coaches. I'm not saying women should coach boys, i don't think that works very well>
and yeah... intolerable, immature, insecure... too many like this.
Obviously the social and emotional aspects for girls development is huge.

It’s a great point. I’ve rarely seen women coaches at any of the clubs we’ve been at girls or boys side.
Yes leaving to start families but think of how many are in the workforce and have started families. Why would youth soccer be any different?

    Old boys club?

As I start looking into the Alphabet Soup of Soccer. Is there a major difference between US Soccer Club National Cup vs USYS National Cup. State Cups vs President's Cup. OMG!

Most likely because year round programs ecnl and girls academy are all in Chicagoland so girls downstate all play high school soccer this making their player pools much stronger. I for one support high school soccer for most players.
In regards to volks yes men comments. I believe this is true based on coaches who have left sockers. CL and RC are prime examples of confident, intelligent, capable coaches who have seen their way out. Both from my experience were not afraid to tell the truth and speak up for what they believe in and I’m sure this got them in trouble.
