The fact that they were coming from potentially getting Conte makes it all far worse for me. Fonseca is perhaps just marginally better than Gattuso (not sure though).
One thing with Rino however, if they wanted someone to change the team's mentality and identity, it just might be him: he's a guy who the players might actually be afraid of. Di Marzio is suggesting that it's Tottenham who halted talks with Fonseca, after finding out that Gattuso had become available...

Right now I think they're panicking a little. I think they have to take what they can get with managers asking questions about transfer strategy. I don't think Gattuso should be considered for management in any top league in Europe. They guy is trash.

Linked to Edouard previously but I suspect that Daka is an even better acquisition. Curious how much it took to get that done.

 

Can only hope this is the start of a grand journey and a wild ride...

 

Gattuso is a very good man motivator and he comes cheap, more suited to a relegation battler than a top side, but he did well during his spells at Milan and Napoli, missing out on the UCL each time by only a point. Fiorentina looked like the perfect place for him, but that it didn't work out may have had everything to do with Paratici who supposedly always wanted Gattuso at Tottenham.

If he were to sign with Spurs, he could probably convince a few players from Italy to come too. Romagnoli, Koulibaly, Insigne, etc., are all former players of his looking for a way out. I can see players like Lamela or Alderweireld heading the other way plus cash. The Italian market is trying to cash in on players and there are good deals to be had. Gattuso also knows British football having been a Rangers player early in his career.

 

Spurs are broke in terms of cash flow. It's that simple really. That is the route cause of this current spursy-ness.

They can't afford shit without cashing in on more of their player assets. There is no war chest for a rebuild.

Who's next on Spurs's list: Potter, Howe, whoever? Wonder what Paratici must be thinking at this point and whether he's starting to question his decision to have joined a club like Tottenham.
