It's pride, Uruguay and Argentina have tons of it, to the point that it can be taken as arrogance but they back it up with results. It's like you can be a trash talker as long as you can back it up, unlike say JJ Macias. LOL
I probably won't be watching any more games until Carlos Vela returns. Things just aren't the same, man.
we've been saying this for years. Decades really is. Just wait until Rona is fully gone and moleros in the US will come back with a vengeance. That's what it's all about. All this talk about going to Europe means nothing if no top Euro clubs want to buy these players. There is talent yes, but at what level?...Plenty to beat the nada for sure. This game should have been put away on the first half.
This is not a troll post. The best team did not win last night. As a US fan it pains me to say it but we were very lucky to pull out the W. If Pulisic was worth $59m to Chelsea, someone like Lozano, Herrera, Lainez, Corona must be worth $150m. Those guys are just classy players. Fantastic match, but it was like waves after wave of Mexican attacks versus American corner kicks. We were lucky that we finally had a player that could actually deliver a corner kick properly for the first time in something like 10 years. Your team is still the class of the federation, and we have a long way to go to match El Tri in terms of being able to compete in the middle 2/3rds of the pitch.
I played a few pick up matches and these 60 year old dude doing chilenas. There is a no such thing as a friendly rec match down there
Tampoco me equivoqué jefe moderador. It’s your playground. Didnt someone call you out also, “jefe”. Un poco de imparcialidad,
I don't know about y'all but that was a hell of a game last night. Fan antics and individual mistakes aside, I had a ton of fun watching this NL game. The team is competitive and I expect the status quo, we'll qualify to the World Cup and get knocked out in the second round while winning a Gold Cup here or there or the next Nations League while the Euro friendlies will dwindle and we will get competition from Costa Rica and the US. It's about time we lose to the US in a competitive game, it had been far too long and it's weird dynamic when you constantly win these games for this stretch of time.
Only US player I was impressed with is Reyna, he’s good and going to get better. Heck of a player. Pulisic is good, but nowhere near the hype. Glorified friendly and this plate is going apesh1t.
Yeah but it shouldn’t be this dire losing one player. At this point it’s a managerial mistake to not consider all the options available and considering vela helped carry a garbage mls team to eliminate two liga mx teams last year it’s absolutely absurd to not have him in consideration. If Lozano had been playing on the right he would have been having similar success to corona and the game wouldn’t have been close with vela or cheech as a striker
I don’t know, haven’t kept up much anymore but there’s always a way of convincing people, I just get the feeling fmf has too much pride to do so. for the us side, the backup keeper was their motm. I get the feeling the Chelsea kid is going to be one of those players that produces at the club level but fails at the national level, haven’t seen one game with him to think he is a champions league scoring type guy.
Sure, but if you know your team is getting killed on corners, I would assume that you try not to give away a freebee corner.
I remember there being at least 2-3 clear opportunities that someone like cheech would have faired better with. There was a cross in the first half which was perfect and went over the states defender but Lozano looked lost on the heading aspect and just missed. I have to believe cheech would have connected from everything I’ve seen in his career
He’s really good in space but can be contained when he doesn’t have that space. Even Chaka did a number on him…
I agree. His stats are also pretty bare at club level, so his performance yesterday was pretty consistent with his ghost performances with Chelsea. He’s a decent player but just a tad overrated. After watching yesterday’s game, I’m much more worried about Reyna.
