Italy start Jorginho, Manuel Locatelli, Domenico Berardi, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne in their final pre-Euro 2020 friendly against the Czech Republic.

It kicks off at the Stadio Dall’Ara in Bologna at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The Azzurri prepare to open the tournament on June 11 against Turkey, as part of a group also including Switzerland and Wales.

Marco Verratti is still recovering from a knee injury, but Stefano Sensi’s latest muscular relapse ruled the Inter midfielder out of the Euros entirely.

He is replaced in the squad by Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina, but for this evening’s game – and probably against Turkey too – Jorginho is flanked by Nicolò Barella and Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli.

Ciro Immobile gets the nod upfront, with Domenico Berardi and Lorenzo Insigne, although Federico Chiesa is expected to get a run-out in the second half.

Italy have kept seven consecutive clean sheets, scoring 21 goals in that period, and are unbeaten since September 2018.

The Czech Republic will be in Group D with Croatia, England and Scotland, opening their campaign on June 14 in Glasgow.

Verona midfielder Antonin Barak and Sampdoria’s Jakub Jankto are familiar to Serie A viewers, with Patrik Schick and Matej Vydra on the bench.

Italy: Donnarumma; Florenzi, Bonucci, Chiellini, Spinazzola; Barella, Jorginho, Locatelli; Berardi, Immobile, Insigne

Italy bench: Sirigu, Meret, Di Lorenzo, Pessina, Belotti, Emerson, Chiesa, Acerbi, Cristante, Bernardeschi, Raspadori, Toloi

Czech Republic: Pavlenka; Coufal, Brabec, Celutska, Boril; Kral; Masopust, Darida, Barak, Jankto; Krmencik

Czech Republic bench: Vaclik, Mandous, Kaderabek, Schick, Sevcik, Soucek, Zima, Vydra, Mateju, Pekhart, Pesek, Sadilek

Thanks for delivering a much needed wake up call for our team. An awful performance on our part, but you guys looked very impressive.

This game actually reminded me of our last meeting all the way back from 2013 in Turin when you guys just played long ball after long ball over our helpless defence.

I think you guys can go quite far in this tournament.

    ITALIA (Pagelle)

Chiellini 6: solito baluardo insuperabile sui palloni alti, disinnesca senza problemi chi passa dalle sue parti. (dal 64' Acerbi 6)

Spinazzola 7: straripante.

All.

Good game, but I wished we could've scheduled a top ten team like England or Brazil for a friendly in the past year. I checked the possession stats of the past few Azzurri games and they were all over 60% with some matches reaching over 65% possession. Our defense is going to look competent with those stats. I don't think of Florenzi or Spinazzola as being good defensively and I don't know how our CBs are going to fare later on in the tournament. I wonder if Mancio is going to surprise us with a 3-5-2 if we face a top team and make it an ugly game. Hoping for the best next week.

Playing this well so close to the tournament must be the best possibile signal a coach can have that his team's prospects are very bright.
