I wouldn't say "outplayed", but played just about even. Honduras played their gameplan. We looked like dogshit against it, Egg never adjusted, and it took a single chance at the end to break the deadlock. Embarrassing that we rarely looked dangerous for extended periods of time despite having the ball for 70-something percent of the time...
Such a boring game.... On papers, our talents is at least 3x better than Honduras, yet we can't create shite. We should be winning these games easily by a 2-3 goals margin.
Don’t worry Miazga, Cannon, and Acosta saw the field... even though we were getting ran over in the midfield.
In theory, but I think on balance it is a poor system susceptible to disparate outcomes, conceived of in a time when the present alternatives were not available and, now, a reasonable decision maker would choose an option with more transparency and precision.
No way, come on. That whole midfield was overrun, but Lletget has the added bonus of also screwing up most of the set pieces. You don't need to pump him up, most of the ire should be directed at the coach, but if you're going to compliment anyone other than Brooks or Siebatchieu, you should think again.
This is excuse making at its worst. You are surrounded by 3 players, so you pass the ball to the man wide open in front of you. Period. He overdribbles under heavy pressure and turns the ball over too much as a result. He needs to stop that.
Im sorry but you're clueless. Did you forget that Sargent saved one off the line? Did he get any chances at a ball like the one he hit? You cant blame the guy at the end of the line if others ahead of him arent doing their job.
It didn't today. Literally 15 or more minutes of injuries. If the rules are not de-facto being followed, then they require updating.
Disagree. World soccer is very tight. Honduras isn’t a dumpster fire. HOWEVER, we should CONTROL a game against Honduras much MUCH better. Like WAY better.
MM was a last-minute sub after the goal, to be fair. The lack of subs till the 78th minute was criminal.
Biggest thoughts: 1. Siebatchu is now the starter. I'm a Sargent guy, but you ride the guy who scores. 2. McKennie was useless without Adams. He's better than the alternatives, but he cannot play as an 8 between Lletget and Yueill. If Berhalter insists on this group, McKennie must play either further forward or back. 3. This is the defensive lineup that should play, although Cannon subbing in is ridiculous. 4. Yueill absolutely, positively cannot be on the field. Hopefully Adams is healthy, but otherwise play literally any other player on the roster. 5. Berhalter is so far out of his depth. Substitutions were terrible, midfield was terrible, offense was terrible. If this is what a game is like against Honduras, at home, in WCQ, we're not qualifying.
... did they just decide not to show the misses live? The conspiracy theories about media control are starting to seem more true.
Technically the board would have to fire him off of the recommendation of the president and the sporting director. However, Earnie Stewart isn't going to admit that mistake. Berhalter is just out of his depth. He doesn't know what he's doing.
They won’t be as physical as Hondo but they tend to play faster and cleaner than we do. We play young.
