Half time so time to mute the TV so I do not have to listen to the talking brainless heads trying to analyze what they do not understand.
I'm having to watch it on UniMundo. I can never get paramount to work. Any insight from the Paramount announcing crew?
When we advance the ball....it’s back line...ball carrier...and 5 guys on the Honduran back line looking for a through ball or something over the top. There is zero depth to our attack. This might be the worst midfield combination I’ve seen the us play in a serious match.
Lletget and Yuiell too slow today mostly Yuiell. Both teams have chances and each could argue they should be up. Good and bad from everybody for as talented is the group is they occasionally still try to get too cute
That was embarrassing. Good - Sargent, Robinson, McKenzie, Brooks Whatever - CP, Reyna, Lletget, Dest Bad - McKennie, Steffen Worse than Bad - Yeuill Nobody will say it cuz MAN CITY, but Horvath should start. That was the worst play of the game, and should be 1-0 if not for Sargent. He wasn't even close to getting the ball. Reyna and CP need to pass the ball. Yeuill needs to not be on the roster.
Terrible game plan if we press we easily win this game. Honduras is higher than us on defense. Not good.
Maybe bring in Musah for Yueill and switch to a press to make our lives easier. Trust our offense enough for it to justify facing a few dangerous counters. Also, we don't always need to pass thru their press. Can mix it up to be unpredictable and have more than one avenue to success. Gregg often makes things tough unnecessarily out of ideological purity.
You could drop McKennie and LLetget both as far as this game goes. Lletget looks more like Galaxy Lletget in this one. How did McKennie miss that wide open header? There was so much discussion on Sarge's miss v. Suisse but if we put vids up of Sarge's miss with McKennie's miss, McKennie's was much worse. I could be wrong but that is how I saw it
Wes, Jackson & Sebastian are too damn slow to have them all in midfield at the same time. Frustrating to watch them get blown by and have no recovery speed whatsoever
Steffen: Mostly good, but awful on that header that Sargent had to save. Robinson+Brooks: Great. Robinson should be pencilled in forever to LB. McKenzie+Dest: Mostly good, although this is the most useless going forward Dest has ever been, and McKenzie just got completely skinned at the end of the half on the left by Elis. Wes+Lletget+Yueill: Horrible, including Wes. Worst I've seen him play. I want Aaronson for one of them. And I know we all rag on Yueill, but his inability to move forward into space was ruining the offense in the first part of the half. He's just so tentative to play positively because he knows he isn't skillful enough to do so without losing the ball. I'm starting to think that I'd prefer a double pivot where Wes switches with Dest when Dest movies forward so that we can get Musah/Aaronson into the 10. CP: It's so nice to watch him. I pinch myself every time to remember he's real. Reyna: Hard to separate him from CP in that half. Unreal. Sargent: I swear some of you will say something negative if he scores a worldie. If Reyna and Pulisic laid the balls of on their runs he'd have two goals and a save. The dude works and is in the right spot almost always, and some of you don't like him because he doesn't score a goal a half. Show me who else is scoring consistently.
Welp. We are still the same team we thought we were. Hope those thinking we’d waltz through qualifying are watching this.
This team is a joke. If this was a real fed, Egg would be fire after this match. First competitive match in TWO years and we look this bad?
I’ve got serious questions about GGG’s talent evaluation. Yes he can recruit, but this has been a horror show from the two MLSers, and is there anyone besides Greg that didn’t see that coming?
I’ll point out yet again this is another US team which doesn’t appear to be coached tactically in the center of the pitch. The cohesiveness, options and movement is simply not there.
When Gio and Pulisic get on the ball, good things happen. The defense has looked like they need some time together but I like the combination. I like Brooks gettig physical and McKenzie seems poised, mostly. Sargent needs to be more dangerous. McKennie was blah. Yueill will hurt us in that spot. Lletget is fading and we're better off leaving the attack to others, but at least he can connect things. I really need somone to explain to me how Zach is good. He looked high. Overall we were really unlucky not to score, but that's the name of the game and if you can't score you can't win. It's got to be more precise up front.
