Freddy Adu just got cut from some 3rd division team in Sweden. Think of the headlines.

I’m curious if Adi signed anywhere? He was so atrocious last year, I think it speaks more poorly of FCC than of us.

Former standout backup GK Brad Stuver gets the start between the pipes for Austin beating out former standout backup GK Andrew Tarbell for the club’s debut.

    Sweat also starts.

Berhalter, Jimenez, and Manneh also on the bench with Tarbs.

The man who brought us Eddie Gaven. We thank you for your service to the club. Also LOL that he/they left off TFC from his "Teams Played For" section.

Sad to read this. Hope one of her last happy memories was watching both sons score in the same game as teammates.

Can anyone point me to a link of the Szetela - Garber Lottery fail? I was telling a friend about it and now I can’t find it.

I see that Hector Jimenez suffered an MCL sprain two weeks ago. No report yet on how long he'll be out. Could be a while, though.

By the way, Hector got a decent salary bump - about 25% - in his move to Austin. He made about $200K here, but is being paid $250K in Austin.

Also, Lalas Abubakar has been out nearly all season at Colorado with an 'undisclosed injury.' He seems to have recently been taking part in training.

You mean the one where Don is reaching into the bowl and the ball with "New York" on it falls out of his sleeve?

I still cant believe that ESPN broke into their 15th repeat of Sportscenter that day to do a half hour special report on Danny Szetela's lottery. That's not just a slow sports day, that's, like, a day when all sports are on strike.

Whoever knew that Danny was still playing?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Elite_SC

Then again, I hear Freddy Adu is still knocking a ball around somewhere, somehow.

The one thing about Danny that still sticks with me is that during the post-game autograph session, he was hanging out all by himself in the corner of the area outside the tent and on his phone. Eventually, he seemed to warm up to playing in Columbus, but on that first night, it was obvious he didn't want to be here. It was easy to imagine he was on the phone with his agent. "I'm a soccer player! Get me out of here!"

Well, to be fair Danny felt that MLS had lied to him about being assigned to New York.

He was Adu's roommate and best pal at Bradenton and Freddy had signed with the understanding that Garber would fix it so that he could play with DC and live at home even though Dallas had the #1 pick.

But they forget that the deal MLS made maintained Columbus at #2 rather than let Dallas have it, and everyone knew that pick was Chad Marshall. Essentially, the deal Garber made handed CBus a major key that won the Cup in 2008.

But Danny's mom figured she had a cash cow in the house so they trotted off to Engerland where she did indeed get some interest, but she was stupid about it. She had an offer from Chelsea that she then trotted over to ManU with to try and get them to top it.

Instead, United tossed her out and when Chelsea found out they rescinded their offer. They don't play that game.

So they came slinking back to the US, only by then the superdraft was over. Somehow they were still convinced that MLS was going to allocate him somehow to NY. Nobody knows what they were actually told. Maybe they thought the lottery drawing was rigged.

However it was, those pix of Danny's reaction are because he has just figured out he's been ass raped, but good. If we had that video, you'd hear Garber telling the kid over and over that Columbus might work out a trade and Danny could end up in New York anyway. It would have been insulting if it wasn't so funny.

Bottom line,, he never would have signed the MLS contract if he knew it meant living in Robert Warzychas basement. Seriously.

The biggest break he ever got though was ending up on a team coached by Sigi Schmid. The man knew how to train and develop young American players.

But Danny wouldn't listen, wouldn't work, wouldn't do what he was told and wouldn't stop cruising High St chasing coed tail all night.. When the offer came from Porto, the story goes, McCullers called Sigi and asked what he wanted him.to do. Reportedly Sigi.told him.to take the first offer, whatever it was, and ship the kid out.

He's another guy who should have aged in MLS for a couple years, soaked up what Sigi could teach him and maybe end up making something of himself. Instead he ended up on the Cosmos getting in Jersey Shore barfights and sitting in the back of a Red Bank police cruiser wondering where it all went wrong.

Who knows what he might have been.

Kei is still a FA I’ll take him on league minimum, i think Porter can handle him and i think he would give us a good option when we go two strikers @ end of games

Ik that will be the overwhelming response but you can cut him at anytime but i don’t think he would be a problem . No one ever mentioned a problem until he argued with Higuaín . Many speculated why he switched teams but lots of players do that .I’ve never heard anyone come out and say he had issues or named incidents on any former clubs .

So if you guys have some dirt let’s hear it ?

Im a forgiving person so I’ll give him a 3rd chance
