Worst penalty shootout performance by a goalkeeper in our club hostory. I've seen goalkeepers in the lowest league in my country do better an penalty kicks than DDG, absolutely awful, inexcusable and shambolic performance.
there's no coming back from this. this will be his last act at united and a big part of his legacy. we need to make some ruthless decisions this summer.
DdG didn't even try for the kicks. just every single thing went wrong. we didn't deserve the Cavani equaliser really. two teams trying to out bad each other. and Rashford was the leading light for that. utter dog shit from start to finish, from left to right from stumble to giveaway. i never thought i'd hate anything UEL related as much as this. Lindelöf clearly didn't learn from last year. neither did the manager. DISGUSTING
Agree with everything. But for me it still falls on Ole. The Rash problem is sorted with an easy sub. Bring on Donny to help with movement off the ball or even bring on Fred and push Pogba up further. Sorted. And every single sub until Mata and Telles was defensive. Against a team that was sitting back and hoping to counter. And then when it was clear Ole was playing for penalties, at least commit to that and sub on Hendo who is the clear better penalty keeper. Ole bottled this final because he was a coward and was afraid to lose rather than trying to win. Everything else is an effect to the cause, which was him failing to make the right adjustments. He showed hes not ready to manage in big games and therefore isnt ready to manage here.
A good manager would know that information and would adjust accordingly before a ********ing shootout. Dave better be gone this summer. He's shot.
I would be less mad if Villareal came out and stomped us into the ground. Its the way in which we were afraid to win that pisses me off.
Choked when it mattered most ... we always crawl to season end. Sadly all blame will be shifted to DeGea but its on OLE ...
Scholes was never shy to bury the previous managers when they deserved it: hope that he named Ole as one of the culprits today... And apparently, they're blaming everyone except him. Can't wait to see that post match.
Mag, Martial and Fred injuries came at a bad time. Meant the starting 11 picked themselves really, but was Rash worse performance in a United shirt and should have been switched out a lot earlier. Poor from Ole / Rash, but was also disappointed in some of our key players - particularly Pogs and Bruno who had very bad games by their standards. DDG and Lindelof poor and need replacing as they both contribute to our set-piece achilles heel. Solskjær: "Fred has been injured this week, he only trained last night, he got through the session but we didn’t want to risk him for the full 90." #mulive [mutv]— utdreport (@utdreport) May 26, 2021
Exactly. And even if the changes backfire and we lose, I'm fine with that. Replace Rashford and then Donny misses the final penalty? That'll suck, but at least we tried to make a change. Replace DDG with Henderson and we still lose on penalties? That will suck even more but at least you're showing you're trying to win here. It's funny how one of the reasons Ole is actually good is being ruthless with players he's not happy with. And here is the final, it's not going great and you just mentally decide to go for penalties with 60 minutes left to play. Come on.
honestly van de Beek and possibly Amad should ask for transfers out. maybe he never wanted van de Beek but what was the point of even having him in the squads? if he couldn't find a way to use them today against a SLOW and MISTAKE PRONE team with POOR PASS ACCURACY then let them go somewhere else. and then Dan James was the solution he came up with. imagine if he stays after this... what? we get to watch this garbage again against better forwards and teams in the champions league?
Futbol is the love of my life, but im so happy the season is over and theres NBA playoffs to distract me tonight.
One thing that’s really frustrating is losing this final is a total catastro******** meltdown but winning would have been a nice feather in the cap.
#mufc defeat tonight is on Solskjaer. Starting Rashford was the wrong call and then he was too gutless to take him off. No change in 90 minutes and little sense to first three. Must never have crossed his mind to do a Van Gaal vs Costa Rice but it was a legitimate consideration.— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) May 26, 2021

Well, glad I was out in the middle of nowhere instead of watching this debacle. View attachment 197076 View attachment 197077 View attachment 197078
Great words from Marcus but more than ever, it's not about words anymore. Talk is cheap and everyone has to back those words with actions (that goes for all of them from Ole, who won't replaced, down to the players). Hope you all get the help and reinforcements that are needed but next season 2-3 major/starting level signings). But this is it: have to see some type of sustained title challenge and just as important, need some kind of silverware as well.
Waiting patiently to see how they market this "league runner-up" powerhouse for the upcoming season. Shitty new kit? Overrated English signing? The summer waiting for the new season is getting less anxious with this lot. #everybodyout
A win wouldve bought Ole some leeway and would've put our season comfortably in the B territory. But losing the final in the way we did drops it down to a C- and now Ole should be in the hot seat if we start slow next season. The way I look at it, it's trophies or bust next season.
