If they get rid of one they should probably get rid of both. They're in a position to cash in on two players in a way that could fund upgrades at four or five other positions.
Fabrizio Romano mentioned on the Que Golazo podcast today that teams are also starting to kick the tires on Bellingham. I like Reyna being at Dortmund, but it would feel pretty good if they were having to fend off other teams to keep him.
Damn how is it that both he and Pulisic can grow that kinda stubble at 18? Took me til my mid 20s to even get half of that amount (even without shaving for several months).
He needs to show a bit more consistency first and play more like he did at the beg. of the season. I’m not worried though, he’s still young. If he isn’t better next season, then I’ll be worried.
My guess is that Sancho will be gone and so will Haaland. Bellingham and Renya will be the focal point of attack next season. Renya the playmaker and Bellingham the poacher-goal scorer. But a cup run champions league run to go along with a season requires some rotation and some rest. I just hope Big soccer followers can understand that rotation doesn’t mean the player is out of favor. If the player is out of favor something occurs like the Abraham situation with Chelsea.
it does. American soccer fandom is weird. Use to be we were lucky to find any American player getting consistent regular minutes. There were several Bryan Reynolds out there. Now, we have multiple yanks playing multiple minutes in several different leagues. Lots of starters, some starting seventy percent of matches, and some used in rotations. Still no matter the circumstance the critique recreates the expectation and acts like anything else is below standard. Forgetting that we have a player that at the beginning of the season was 17 and right now if lived a normal life would be graduating or going to prom. The same poster with the biggest criticisms probably can’t get their high school senior kid to get a summer job.

https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...21-haaland-bellingham-musiala-gio-reyna-16014 Age: 18 Club: Borussia Dortmund Position: Attacking midfielder Key stats: 32 games, four goals, five assists As with Haaland - in fact, even more so – Reyna’s age still catches you off guard every time you see him glide past players with the ball seemingly glued to his foot. The England-born ace was only able to sign full-time terms when he turned 18 in November last year, and the Signal Iduna Park faithful will be delighted that the precocious young talent is committed to the club until at least 2025. The youngest player to grab a hat-trick of assists in a single Bundesliga match, Reyna made his international debut the same month he penned that new club deal and now has two goals in four appearances for the USMNT. He also has a DFB Cup winners' medal around his neck, so what’s next? "I already feel like I'm becoming part of the new generation of big players. I don't want to become just a good American player. I want to consistently be one of the top 10 players in the world."
I’ve noticed this — I think if’s because we don’t really have a concept of this in other sports, although the NBA has started with load management stuff (although those players just sit the full game vs come off the bench).
My rule of thumb is, at the very least, if you start the majority of your club's league games in a season you're a starter. If it's more like a quarter of the club's games, that's a rotational player. Under the more restrictive definitions that sometimes get applied to YAs, there would only be 5 or 6 players on most teams that would qualify as starters, and the majority of the roster would be bench players.
That was gold, actually. PS: Just learned today it was gold-plated sterling silver, so much cheaper than the current trophy. Who knew.
Other than that one really bad giveway I thought he was pretty good. He def brings an attacking skillset the USMNT (and to be fair, BVB a bit as well) lacks. Next step will be to get more overall awareness on the field and continue to work on his finishing and overall physicality.
Awareness is his biggest opportunity in my opinion. Next would be making himself available and finding space to combine with his teammates more often (mostly against bunkered teams. I think most players aside from Haaland could improve on their finishing consistency. I’m not worried here though since he has the ability to hit long range shots. I actually disagree about him needing to improve on his physicality. Of all our top players, Reyna is probably the best when compared to where our other guys were at 18 (except maybe Dike). I think the only area of an improvement could be his work rate. Hopefully his work rate isn’t an issue as he gets older.
