I get it was one game. But that was bottom tier USL League One quality. I don’t know why the quality of the game was so bad. But it was like watching a bad high school JV game with the amount of poor touches, missed clearances, and long balls to nowhere. Any of those teams try to play like that against Man City and they’ll get destroyed.
That was brutal to watch, but the crowd was great and the stakes are so high. 1st time watching Dike... sorry no thanks. Will take a different view of him when he plays in a totally different style, ball in ground and through the channels. Love his personality and all.
All fancy plays, tiki-taka go out the window and they just grind it out until someone comes out on top.
Dike on the bench? WTF! C’mon you can’t do that to us Americans. That means we have to sit through the shite that is Barnsley and WAIT for him to come on.
Game starts at 1:30 pm eastern on ESPN+. Barnsley trail 1-0 after the home first leg. The English promotion playoffs do not use the away goal rule.
CCV loses, Hoppe loses, Sargent relegated, Dike not starting...not a great Saturday here...hopefully a 2nd half Dike masterclass can pull us out of this misery!
Not weird. They seem to having a winning formula with him coming on in the second half. At least that was the case when they were competing with reading for that sixth spot. Dike would come on at half and apply his direct football against some tired legs after Woodrow and Morris would run them wide. I expect to see Dike on at the beginning of the second. Hopefully the game is still up for grabs.
It's likely if Barnsley advanced the the game will go to OT, I don't see them beating Swansea by two goals in regular time. Dike being on the bench means he will not have a full 90 under him for OT. Gives me flashbacks to 2014 World Cup when Besler had to deal with a fresh legged Lukaku during OT.
Barnsley gave it a good go just couldn’t put anything away. The free kick won by Swansea was gifted and the ref knows it, so I expect a little grace period for Barnsley. Dike with a Brace in the second half.
