Holstein want to win the whole thing! They were down 2-1 at 80. Back up 3-2 by 88 and it ends that way... Looks like Furth headed to playoffs unless they really screw the pooch. Green/Furth need at worst a win and tie in their last 2 to ice it. Even a blow-out win likely makes them safe. If HSV get less than 3 pts total from last 2 games, Furth goes to playoff anyway.
Karlsruher away is the toughest game for Kiel. That's the one, if they win it, they get the autoprom. Fürth could barely tie them, and at home. After that, Kiel receives a very in-form Darmstadt, another tough one. They have a record of 4 wins and a draw in their last five. Kiel has to lose one and at most tie the other for Fürth to have a shot, but both are very hard games. The two games Green & his clover leaves have left are winnable, but so are the last two for HSV. HSV has the better GD so Fürth needs at the very least a win and a tie to make the playoff.
A win and a tie assures them of the playoff no matter what HSV does. A really strong win also gets them in the playoffs, most likely, but it needs to be a blowout, which has not been Furth's style. Then again, HSV has only won 1 of the last 5, so they're aren't a lock to win out ether. Odds favor Furth, but they could easily blow it. Holstein near perfect down the home stretch, even with extra games midweek. They would really need to stumble to give it up now.
Green starts today away to Paderborn. The Karlsruhe - Kiel match is being shown espn+. The stadium is surrounded by a huge construction site.
Been fun watching the top 4 places today. Shifting all over. Furth strongly in 3 at the moment. Bochum and Holstein tied on points and GD.
Julian subbed off in the 84th for a defensive replacement, Furth scored an insurance goal extremely late for 4-2.
Almost perfect results for Furth today (Bochum tied after being down. But Holstein losing makes 2nd in reach. Last games are gonna be worth watching. DD, despite winning can't catch Furth, but could dent their chances for 2nd. Furth make the playoff no matter what.
Should have written "at least" makes the playoff no matter what, but a win and Holstein loss (or even Furth with a 2+ goal win and Holstein with a tie, put furth into auto-promote 2nd.) Hamburg's loss means no one can catch Furth for 3rd.
Recalled! So happy to see Julian earn a recall for the upcoming Switzerland match. He’s earned it. Great season, Furth is the playoffs, and now a recall. I’ve always had a lot of love for Julian. Hopefully, he can earn himself a Gold Cup roster spot.
Just realized Furth are one point from 2nd and automatic promotion to the BL with one match to play. So if they beat Düsseldorf and Holstein lose to Darmstadt, they are automatically promoted. Either way they are guaranteed a playoff spot. So…….. if Julian avoids the playoffs and wins promotion he’ll be with the USMNT in Switzerland but….. if heads to the playoffs the match dates are May 26th and May 29th. That means he probably won’t be included for Switzerland.
Turns out that consistent butt kicking in a high quality league is a great way to get a call up. Good on Julian! Now just need to pee in Holstein's drink before the next match.
They can even sneak in if Holstein ties and they bang a few past DD, but Holstein has been playing pretty well of late, last week notwithstanding. Sure nice going into the last game knowing at worst you get a playoff.

Chance to tie... DD give up very weak/willy handling. 1 -1. But Bochum and Holstein both ahead so Furth still need to win and have Holstein give up a goal or 3. Spoke too soon. Holstein is tied now... Drama, baby!
3-2 now for Fürth, who have been playing the entire second half with ten players. 10 more minutes to promotion. Fans outside the stadium are going crazy.

Hero status for Green!! He’s earned that. Everything had to go Furth’s way. Everything! Unbelievable. I am so happy for Green. He’s had an outstanding season. Now he can finally join the USMNT for the Swiss match. Of course...... after he parties the night away in celebration of promotion!
