Lost: Italy - turkey 4 cat 3 England - Croatia 4 cat 1 England - Scotland 4 cat 2 Semi-final - 1 Fan first Munich 1/4 - 4 cat 3
I wouldn’t be surprised, but outrageous, if true. My semi tickets have been cancelled and they are the lowest priced ones but still 195 Euros each. Can’t believe they could have the front to put them on general sale again and charge any more than that, but I guess the way they’ll do it is to sell them as hospitality seats at a vastly increased rate.
So, I’ve got my first cancellation email now, not that it says what games it’s for, which is pathetic, but from the credit note I think it’s the semi final. I had four games, the England group games and a semi. My UEFA account suggests I’ve lost the semi and England v Scotland, but only one cancellation email and no positive ones yet. If I end up getting two matches, that’s probably what I expected in a fair ballot - although I expected on balance to get a group game and keep the semi. However, I expected to lose the lot to be honest given the way Uefa operates. To be honest, I’ll be delighted and feel lucky to get confirmation that I’ve kept one game, given other people’s horror stories. What I can’t understand and what is clearly a fix/fraud/scam is people losing their semi and final tickets. A full capacity has not been ruled out for both and lots of tickets must have been cashed in by fans - especially overseas ones - who can’t or won’t be able to attend, so there is no reason for UEFA cancelling these tickets other than to convert them to hospitality tickets at a huge price at a later date.
Is the cancellation process over ? Did anyone lost tickets this morning that were still here yesterday ?
What i think they did for semis and final is to say, we can garantee 50% capacite and may be more (but they will know it later) . Hence they cancel 50% (worst case scenario) and they put later more tickets if covid allows, and give loosers and lonk on folirst come forst served basis
Maybe, but what would have been a good idea is if they actually told people - perish the thought of a football organisation being transparent! Do they never learn given previous controversies (especially FIFA)? People would be a lot more understanding if before the ballot UEFA confirmed what the capacity was for each game and how many tickets were oversubscribed and how many would be honoured and lost for each price category, and what the process is for reallocating them if capacities and higher than expected. Just culling tickets with no explanation of the process (specially for games where a full or almost full capacity is possible) will lead to people suspecting foul play and there being huge anger if and when these tickets do go back on sale, especially if it seems there is an increase in hospitality tickets. I personally in fairness expect a window to buy my semi ticket back if it is confirmed that there is a full capacity and not just the chance to go back into a ballot or a first come first service sale, which I have no belief will happen.
The ballot was meant to be per ticket, not groups of tickets. I know four people who each lost all four tickets for the final. That would be an amazing stroke of bad luck to lose all 16 in a 50% vote.
UEFA will run a random ballot per order and per match to determine which tickets remain valid. Excerpt from UEFA’s FAQs so ballot is unfortunately per order/set of tickets rather than per ticket.
Lost (mostly overnight): Sc v Croatia 2 cat 3 Dublin 4 (venue switch) EvCroatia 4 cat 3 England v Scotland 4 cat 1 R 16 Wembley 2 cat 2 SF Wembley 2 cat 3 F Wembley 4 cat 1 left: SF 2 cat 2 Budapest 4 cat 3 Fr v Hungary ouch- I thought Final was rumoured to be full! Disappointing to say the least!
No cancellation emails yet but still says purchase to be refunded on all 3 England games and SF. Still have 2 tickets for the Final saying purchased. I am not super convinced that this is the end of the story though. I buy into the fact that they will likely have FCFS with access codes for those who lost out for some games, particularly latter stages. If you think about it - what they don’t want is a load of people who have tickets not been able to travel last minute but rather have a FCFS a few days before where people who are already local will be the ones purchasing. Obviously, over the years, loads of FCFS experience in every tournament so UEFA cancelling more than necessary but banking on selling them closer to the time is not out of the question
I agree - something doesn’t feel right on balance of probabilities - almost universal cancellation of tickets - with some of us keeping a small %
By way of an update, I logged in to Uefa this morning and only three of my four purchases are showing on the "Tickets" page - the semi final ones I have now received an email and credit note for are not there anymore; the Scotland ones are still on my "Tickets" page and showing as "purchase to be refunded" and the other two England group matches are showing as "allocated". If I go to "order history" it reflects this too and the credit note for the semi tickets is attached along with the original invoice and it suggests the Scotland ones are in the process of being refunded. For me and others in the same boat, I hope this means the ballot is done and, in the scheme of things, I've got lucky, but I am far from banking on it and still expect to lose my other tickets and won't be takeing it as a given that I'll go to any games until I received notification and the tickets.
This way of cancelling tickets randomly through the night is the footballing equivalent of water boarding. If it is anything like the WC then there will be miraculously tickets available nearer the time and certainly when people realize England won't be in a SF then they will be giving them away.
Some good news for anyone with tickets in the EU venues who can get hold of a vaccine certificate. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/05/17/holidays-europe-covid-vaccine-passport/
I’ve had no email yet but according to my ticket portal account I’ve lost; England v Croatia - Cat 3 England v Scotland - Cat 1 England v Czech Republic - Cat 1 as it stands I’ve still got a cat 2 ticket to the 2nd semi final. Does anyone know if there is a further ballot, or whether tickets that are now left are guaranteed?
What about the other way around? I have bookings to Wembley Holliday Inn.. altough we lost all our semi finals tickets yesterday...
It will depend on reciprocity I'd have thought, so if your country is green lit you should be able to come here without testing if you have proof of vaccination, and vice versa. The number the EU is using for green status is about the same as the UK I think, under 100/100,000 infections.
Holidays to Europe with Covid vaccine passports get green light EU to welcome inoculated British tourists as BA chief calls for advance ‘green list’ ByCharles Hymas, HOME AFFAIRS EDITOR and James Crisp, EUROPE EDITOR17 May 2021 • 9:30pm British holidaymakers are on Wednesday set to be given the green light by the EU to use "vaccine passports" to enter Europe. EU ambassadors are expected to sign off a plan allowing fully-vaccinated Britons to fly to Europe without having to have a Covid test or quarantine. It came as the bosses of BA and Heathrow issued a joint plea to the Government to publish an advance list of its "green" countries for the summer to enable families to plan holidays. Currently, all European countries bar green-listed Portugal and Gibraltar are rated "amber" by the Government, requiring travellers to quarantine and take two PCR tests on their return. The EU plan would see member states adopt uniform entry requirements, giving fully-vaccinated holidaymakers from low-risk countries such as the UK unrestricted entry to Spain, France, Italy and other popular destinations. It would, however, create a system that would see the rest of the bloc accept passengers based on vaccination status while the UK confers no such status on those who have had the jab and instead requires testing or quarantine for all returning holidaymakers. On Monday, thousands of Britons flew to Portugal on holiday as the Government's travel ban was lifted under step three of its roadmap out of lockdown. Passengers queue at Heathrow as flights to 'green list' destinations began on Monday CREDIT: Geoff Pugh/The Telegraph Other holidaymakers defied government warnings that they should not travel to "amber" countries by flying to destinations such as Greece despite having to quarantine on their return. Sean Doyle, the chief executive of BA, and John Holland-Kaye, his Heathrow counterpart, warned that Britain's restricted "green list" meant it risked missing out on the opening of travel across Europe despite the success of its vaccination programme. They said many European nations including Spain, Greece, Cyprus, France and Malta were making "tremendous progress" in bringing down infection rates and boosting vaccination levels. "We are calling on the Government to help people to plan ahead by publishing a list of countries expected to be on the 'green list' for the summer so that passengers are not faced with high prices and limited choices for last-minute bookings," said Mr Holland-Kaye. "That's happened to many people travelling to Portugal today. Let's give hard-working Brits the chance to get their towels on the sun lounger." On Wednesday, the UK is expected to be included on an expanded EU "green list" permitting holiday travel from non-EU countries with Covid infection rates below 100 cases per 100,000 of the population rather than the current 25 per 100,000. EU ambassadors will meet to agree a European Commission proposal calling for travel restrictions on non-EU countries with high vaccination rates to be lifted. If the ambassadors reach agreement as expected, the decision will be formally adopted at the EU trade ministers council on Thursday. The bloc's "green list" is currently limited to seven of the lowest-risk countries including Australia, New Zealand and Singapore – but the UK, with 44 cases per 100,000 people, and the US, at 35 per 100,000, are now expected to make the cut. Member states will also be recommended to set up digital portals that will enable Britons to use the NHS app as a vaccine passport as the EU develops a similar green certificate for citizens. Those who are not vaccinated will have to present a negative Covid test or evidence of immunity. Portugal and Greece have already jumped the gun by opening to British holidaymakers, but the EU-wide move is designed to kickstart the summer holiday season for the whole continent and agree a united position. On Monday, the Government faced a backlash from Tory MPs and travel bosses over its tough approach, particularly to "amber countries". Last week, Boris Johnson warned that the current 12 countries and territories on the "green list" would not "expand very rapidly" when the list is reviewed in three weeks. Matt Hancock reiterated that holidaymakers should avoid travel to "amber" countries other than for "exceptional reasons", even though it is legal to do so under the traffic light system. But Huw Merriman, the Tory chairman of the Commons transport committee, accused the Health Secretary of "effectively turning the 'amber list' into the 'red list'" and added: "What is the point in me having my passport any more?" Mr Doyle said he was "surprised" by Mr Hancock's "excessive" warning, while Johan Lundgren, the easyJet chief executive, said the latest data suggested most of Europe "could actually already from right now go on to that 'green list' of categories". Paul Charles, the chief executive of The PC Agency, who led a Save our Summer campaign, said: "The Europeans are just more optimistic than the UK. They realise how critical travel and tourism is to their economies so they are moving at great speed to introduce a more seamless approach to travel for the summer season."
