How could they overturn that call? This is not what VAR is supposed to be for. He was probably on, and that was the original call.
Yeah, I thought that was the rule for VAR...? As much as I’d like CP to be the hero, as long as he wins the FA Cup, I’m ok with someone else being the hero.
Yes, and the ref didn't even have a look. It was made in the booth. When in doubt stick with the call. Heck, there also should be an unwritten rule, when in doubt, let the players decide it, especially in a big game.
CP was brought on too late. Tuchel is the goat here. What the hell was Ziyech doing out there for so long?
I love Brendan Rodgers. Loved him at Celtic but we all knew he was destined to go back to England. A EPL title and an FA Cup at Leicester... you can’t make that shit up. Bummer for CP10 and Chelsea. But hey.... they have a CL trophy they are playing for. Hard to get angry about this one.
The ref is supposed to be first in command & if it's let go initially the call is onside. It should have to be clear it was offside to overturn. It was not. His feet appeared onside. That's what you're supposed to go by, not look for if a hair is hanging out there. And the spirit of the rule is to prevent poaching. Let players decide the game when in doubt. Instead a booth jockey did.
Tuchel has been playing with fire by playing so cautiously and now keeping his best attacker to finish matches off. Think that finally came to bite him
