Probably so. And I’m probably a jerk for mentioning it.

Well, he's under pressure. He's not just the standard-bearer for the New American Player who can make it big in Europe, but our first top class attacking player over there ever, because not even Dempsey and McBride made it as far as active attacking players for a top team.

And also because he must be aware that, for all the success in the Champions, which is fine, for the regular club fan the #1 thing is producing in the league, week after week, consistently, something he has not done.

So this is it, this is a run that has to continue in September, because being called "summer Pulisic" is no praise at all.

I think he's an introvert, and prefers to keep his personality to himself. Or rather, I should say, as a celebrity he prefers to keep his personality out of the public eye. He definitely keeps his emotions pretty tightly controlled in this little snippet.

I mean I can imagine reporters saying he's a shitty interview, in the same way that a manager might think a non-scoring striker is a shitty striker. It's not a personal attack, but a judgement that of performance that is specific to your job.

For a reporter, your job is to educate your viewers about the man on the camera, both as a soccer player and as a human. He makes that hard, so I can see reporting concluding he's a crap interview.

But as a fan, I'd never say that

    EDIT

Him saying he was really frustrated after the Champion's League semi was the most emotional I've seen him in an interview.

But I also saw the poor kids collapse in tears on the pitch after the TnT match, and read reports about how he was almost inconsolable afterwards in the locker room.

I think there's just a part of him that wants to put a very non-controversial face to the media.

This can’t be right. It means these teams have a combined 203% chance for 2 spots.

Three teams are competing for two spots. Randomly, they’d all have a 66.666666% chance.

so how can 3 teams competing for two spots all have a better chance than that? It’s just like writing that Chelsea have a 52% chance of winning the FA Cup, and Leicester have a 50% chance.

Ah, I see what you mean. Not sure if it's been litigated here or not, but I thought I saw something where if Chelsea win the UCL but finish 5th, then the Prem would get 5 teams in. Could be accounting for that.

That’s not really relevant to the chances of a top four finish. I’m going to go with its being a rounding effect

As of now 538 has it as 69% Leicester City, 68% Chelsea, 61% Liverpool and 1% West Ham for a total of 199.

Yep. Welcome to stats. To make money, you gotta pick the loser- they drop to 0, the others to 100 and it all balances.

If he's the super-sub later today, he needs to be plugged in sooner than 70 minutes. Would be a BLAST were he to score and win them the FA Cup which he nearly did last year.

I’ll be surprised if Pulisic starts. I predict a Werner, Mount and Ziyech front 3. I get the feeling aZiyech will get the nod today.
Havertz and Pulisic as subs. Hopefully CP comes on in the 60th.
Still hoping CP gets a CL final start in a couple weeks

Are they also suggesting that each team will need to give 110% effort?

I’m not sure what you mean. I probably should have quoted one of the posts before mine that originally cited the 538 projections. My post was simply a reply to that conversation which suggested the math was bogus because it added up to 203 when it should have added up to 200. I posted the current projections because I thought the OP that cited them may have made a typo. The total of the projections I posted is 199 and I think it can safely be assumed that this is due to rounding. I’m not sure why but I seem to have offended some posters with this as I’ve gotten a lecture on basic stats and what appears to be a sarcastic question. Either way, apologies if I’ve offended anyone, it was not my intent.

I was just trying to make a silly joke about how people think about percentages. No offense intended, and certainly none taken.

Every time CP plays he creates goal chances... IMO, he is their best offensive player.... but I am OK with some rotation.

obviously second game is on 5/18 ... but the real point here is (regardless of if/when he starts or not) over two weeks there are four important games (all four are very important and two points (1) can’t look at one game in a vacuum and (2) CP has a chance to have a good four game period to help himself and his team. Score or assist or defend - it does not matter - Chelsea need to have four good games and CP can be a big part of that.

Not to mention these same two teams play again Tuesday and Tuesday is really a must win game for them to make top four, unless you want to roll the dice on winning the CL final. From financial point of view, winning the oldest trophy in football is less of a priority than a league game.

Extra time would not be a surprise either. Tuchel clearly has more top shelf options, so it is reasonable to think an extra half hour today will favor the deeper team Tuesday. Fans will be in the house today that is going to be different as well. Is Rudiger healthy?
Rudi and Ngolo really look for Puli as of late, and when they do not play I don't think our lad gets as many touches.

KTBFFH and hopefully we can see another yank win another trophy this season.

I think he starts on the bench today for rotation reasons. You could argue Tuesdays match is more important.

Just a bummer that they don't get 6 days rest ahead of the FA Cup final with the compressed schedule.

I'd argue that 15 percent of the time, Pulisic scores 100 percent of the time.
