Koeman had one of the hardest shots in history clocking in around 115mph. Kinda hard to stop those unless the keeper wants to break his hand in the process :D

Van Basten has above 90% percent as well, when including or excluding shoot-outs.

    And Ibrahimovic.

I think Zidane is the best I can remember in high pressure or unusual situations (for ex. the 2000 semi final brawl). So many important penalties and they all went in!

According to this site, he did not take all that many PKs. Only 14.

Yes I was aware of that. He took them when something material was at stake.

This site excludes the shoot-outs though. Think here for example of the opening penalty against Italy in 1998.

It goes a bit off subject now (Cillessen stopping penalties...) but when it is about high pressure penalties or penalties in highly unusual circumstances, Zidane is the first I think of.

Sneijder & Bergkamp are way way below Robben. Like a couple of tiers (& I love Sneijder). Bergkamp has done jack for the NT.

Being an Ajax legend doesn't mean they have to over-hyped over non-Ajax legends. Van Basten is the only rational reasonable shout-out. Apart from his genius in the Euro, you could argue in terms of longevity & performance over the years, he is a shade lower. But that is an argument & people will have different opinions.

Anyways I don't want to derail this thread into best Dutch Player in the Post Cryuff Era !

BTW when it comes to the team -

    1. Arjen Robben coming off 10 minutes to go isn't going to win the Trophy. The overall team will. I always prefer having a great player (even half fit) in the bench among 23 people than 20 mediocre players. And it has been proven right historically. Anyone who is arguing that doesn't understand football or management in general. If there was a generation like Belgium, you could make your point. With this, it is tall talk. And if this theory was accepted, Robben with a hole in his knee wouldn't have played in the WC & Oranje would have been knocked out vs Brazil. The issue is not Robben but the other 22 players.

    2. Babel - Is this a joke? A freaking 34 year old Winger who has been a flop & a joke all his life in terms of expectations or performance vs Benchmark. Babel is a joke. He is 34 & plays in Turkey & who cares what some Danish guy things. If he can be moulded into a RB/LB ala Kuyt with improvement in defensive contribution then you make the case. But he has no business competing vs De Bruyne or Hazard for say Belgium. Babel is also now not even elite fast.

    3. Klaassen - He is very good off the ball & equally mediocre on the ball. His runs are good but he can't do any build up or is good in vertical play. I would prefer a De Jong as DLP & 2 Runners in Beek & Wijnaldum & I don't even rate either as extraordinary. Klaassen will defend will but in attack will play too high waiting for through balls & will contribute nothing in build up play. And if you want a 10, play a technical & pacy 10.

Oranje lack a good quality 10 or a very attacking 8 who can play as 10. Maybe we go 5-3-2 ala Koeman.

    I can see -

PVA - Blind - De Ligt - De Vrij - Dumfries
    Beek De Jong Wijnaldum
    Weghorst Depay

Very defensive & boring squad but the team has no elite 10s or Wingers !

Bergkamp remains the Orange player with the most combined goals and assists in major tournaments. There are no penalties involved and it includes opponents as Germany, France, Argentina, England and Brazil in these tournaments.

It's off tangent but I think Bergkamp and Robben are both competing for the #3 spot. Other viable contenders for #3 are Wilkes, Van Hanegem, Rensenbrink, Gullit and Rijkaard. I think.

I dont see how you guys could want vdBeek to start since he has barely played any games this year for United, and the ones he has played in he's been horrible.

He should be on the bench though

I think the midfield is the weakest out of all the departments in terms of creativity and only looked good with average teams. I just cant see how the trio of klaassen, wijnaldum and frenkie will fare up with big teams if they make it out of group stage.

In high tempo games, they are destined to collapse especially if opponents maintain the tempo through out and don't let them claw their way back in.

Gravenberch not sure, like many others will need more outings to really lay his stakes and hit the ground rolling in the MF

I understand it is personal choice but I think the Ballon d'Or votes may be like below:
    1. Cruyff
    2. Van Basten
    3. Gullit
    4. Bergkamp and Rensenbrink
    6. Rijkaard
    7. VVD
    8. Krol

Robben and Sneijder are probably somewhere around 7.

For whatever it’s worth Cillessen did move early and it was likely to be retaken if VAR reviewed had it not been for the scramble follow up Barca goal.

Sadly this good for the dressing room BS that Frank talks about is truthfully just ridiculous.
There are very good professionals in this team and Ryan Babel Kevin Strootman or whomever else mentioned should ONLY be a part of the squad on ABILITY, FORM, & MERIT.
This is Oranje NOT a tea party!
This is just stupid and again I say KNVB is utter failures with De Boer’s appointment as Manager.
Robben talk is sadly promising because of the shite options of technically dead players like Luuk De Jong who should be nowhere near this squad based on lack of form, production, quality, playing time, and ability.
These are basic sensible criteria to choose.
Good grief is De Boer a fool.

Totally agree with this. Criteria for choosing a squad is or should be a simple process, but De Boer what exactly is he watching?
    Pretty scary thought.

It’s a fair question but at this moment probably Peter Bosz but at the time he was employed by Leverkusen.
I would NEVER have had De Boer involved in the process whatsoever based on his horrific run as a Manager.

By the way I was watching some of the match and once again I just don’t see any fire or improvement from Calvin Stengs.

How about Cocu, Rijkaard, Gullit, Kluivert or Hiddink as manager or you bring back Van Basten as manager
