Luckily he hasn’t been a bench player for Tuchel OR Lampard, so we don’t even need to have the convo. I’d that changes next season, we can chat. In the meantime, let’s enjoy this incredible high.

This thread has taken a confusing turn. CP is in a good position to start a CL final and is a key figure for a CL finalist, but yet a lot of posters want him to move on. I don’t get it...

He did say a bit more than "I'm disappointed at not starting" which would be normal and fine for a player to say.....

Here's the money quote: "I'm very frustrated...I've had to continue to prove myself over and over again."

What does Tuchel do for the game on Saturday? No way he plays that game like a must win, does he?

That's going to be a weird game to watch with both coaches trying not to show their hands.

Chelsea must play to win...they can't afford to play in a way to not show their hands....They're only 3 points from falling out of Chanpions League spot.

Although if they win the UCL final, they would be in, but I doubt they should fully bank on a UCL win.

It’s not that simple. They have to feel that they can sign a replacement level player at a reasonable price too. They won’t sell unless they are certain they won’t lose out on both money and football reasons. Let me put it like this. I’m not a gambling man but I’d bet anyone in the thread money that if Pulisic comes on as a sub in the UCL final and isn’t happy and rumors are floated that he wants out, he will still 100% suit up as a Chelsea player next season. Chelsea won’t cave. They’ll wait until it makes sense to them on all fronts. This thread is a massive overreaction and people need to step back and think clearly.

I saw a stat on YT from ESPN which said that CP played in 17 games for Lampard and TT had played him in 20 games... at about 3 mins...

I don't know if that's accurate but, if it is, that's not really something to complain about... particularly if CFC get into the top four and win the FA Cup and the CL.

As Steve Nicols says, (at about 1:30), the best players prove themselves over and over again, every time they step onto the pitch, whether that's in games OR in training. That's a comment I've heard before. The best players perform EVERY time they play or train.

If he is genuinely saying that he doesn't want to have to do that, that would be a bit worrying, tbh. That's why I think he was just responding honestly to a question that was asked rather than something he necessarily planned to say.

if that's not the case it's also something some of his teammates wouldn't appreciate... for example Abraham who's averaged a goal every 120 minutes and isn't playing as opposed to Werner who stands on a goal every 300+ minutes and is.

He just needs to keep his head down and play well when he gets on. That's all. If he does that he'll be fine and he'll get lots of playing time.

TBH that would be the the same wherever he goes.

I'm not really trying to argue whether he's right to be upset at Tuchel or not when it comes to his playing time.....Everyone has their own opinion.

What's clear to me is he's clearly not happy with Tuchel in general and probably feels like he's had to do much more than others(Werner) to be given the benefit of the doubt in starting these big matches..

he clearly values these big matches and feel he should start them if he's the most in form Chelsea player at the moment.

I don’t even think there is even enough evidence to say he’s “clearly upset at Tuchel.”

in sports, in general, post game interviews tend not be depositions or legal filings.

There are a small handful of clubs that CP could reasonably think are a better fit, and have better chances of winning stuff, who can also afford CP. It's a very small club. My guess his he will need to be much more disgruntled than this, at least in private, to get moved. (and maybe he is, but we've all seen players who "demand" moves and try to force it with their behavior, and CP right now ain't to that point.)

CP unnecessarily stating that he's had to "prove himself again and again" seemed to suggest grievance, at the very least..What's the point of even saying that unless he thought Tuchel was not being fair?

Even some Chelsea fan at WAGNH were a bit bothered he went this far instead of just saying he's not happy he didn't start which would be okay...

I believe he'll be at Chelsea next year because he has 3 years left on his contract and has no leverage unless Chelsea wants to move him......That would be more likely if they buy Sancho who's increasingly linked to a move to Chelsea

So that would open a CL spot to the 5th place PL team right?

    Come on Liverpool!

CP has been a great sub--a game-changer. Werner would not be. Coaches have to make decisions that get the most out of the squad. Havertz is in good form and is growing in confidence. I can't disagree with TT's approach. ...and I think it's very natural and normal for CP to be frustrated.

From the coach's perspective, you're fully right...Tuchel did what he felt was best for the team and it worked...He's stated before Pulisic is best coming off the bench to run at tired legs with his pace and dribbling..

The problem is Pulisic views himself much more than an impact sub...so something will have to give.

So if Tuchel continues to use CP as an impact sub, it'll be interesting to see how things goes....But I do hope this was a 1 match thing and CP starts all the big matches unless he's out of form.

If Lewandowski rumors to Chelsea are true , I wonder if we could see our boy to Bayern since they had interest in him

If you have been following Pulisic for a while, you know the connection between him and Tuchel. Further, it doesn't take a genius to see and notice the tension. From what Pulisic says post match or in interviews all the way to consistently brushing past his coach during goal celebrations.

If you want to believe things are rosy and sunny between Pulisic and Tuchel, cool. But you're missing a lot and most of the folks here are commenting on behaviors and interactions they've noticed over several weeks. That has nothing to do with "how long people have been watching the game" and much more with just observing the public interpersonal connection between the two.

One could argue some of this was going on with Lampard there too, but I don't think it was anywhere as obvious as it is now. Maybe it's because of familiarity too. Tuchel has known Pulisic a long time, after all. IF that relationship sours even more, then why would either one want to continue a somewhat untenable relationship with one another?

We need appoo's aquaintance's friend's friend that ran into the Pulisic family at 31 Flavors that one time to give us more insider info. It could be pretty serious.

You have to remember he was injured for a few months under Lampard when the season starts.

Pulisic had 13 starts and 4 substitute appearances under Lampard. He's had 9 starts and 11 subs under Tuchel.

I thought he was in a good position to start the CL semifinal second leg having scored a goal in the first leg while being rested in the Fulham game. I can see Tuchel using him in the super sub role again for the final.

Tuchel has done a fantastic job at Chelsea. I'm hard pressed to recall a coach who has come in and navigated such a dramatic turnaround any better. They've done nothing but climb the table since his arrival and they just knocked Real out of the Champion's League to reach the final. By any conceivable metric he has done fantastically well. No one who gives a crap about Chelsea would be anything other than thrilled with him. AND, he has overseen Pulisic getting his groove back and actually getting rest now and then instead of just playinh him 'til he gets hurt again. Of course Pulisic wants to play every minute, all top players do. This would come as absolutely no surprise to Tuchel nor would it be unwelcomed. Every player if asked if they want to start and play more will say yes, and that is as it should be. Long term, who knows how this all pans out. But as if now everything is about as good as could be hoped for Pulisic and Chelsea.
