I don't know man, Dortmund were the best they've been the past what decade w/him running it (was he running it when they made it to the semi's or final or whatever of the CL like 10 years? I'm too lazy to look it up), PSG was great with him, finally breaking through to a Champions League final after perpetually choking, and then they can him, and are worse, while he takes over a Chelsea side that was largely mediocre, and sometimes hot garbage in '20-'21, and completely turns the ship around in both league and the CL? Seems damn good too me, and not simply hot. Regardless, if I'm CP, I leave asap unless I think there's genuine interest in making me a long time starter if I can stay healthy. He owes Chelsea nothing.

I'm sure they want to let the players express themselves - to a point. That line is probably built into their contracts.

His statements were fine, particularly as they were in response to a question. If he starts making unsolicited remarks like this to the media then I think there would be a problem.

EPL is the easiest tv viewing for me.

Because I have a Xfinity (aka Comcast) for my cable, I have both NBC Sports and Peacock. I'm still a little fuzzy how Peacock Premium differs from Peacock, but when the games are on Peacock, I can watch. Only downside is I can't record Peacock so if I come into a game in the 35th minute, I have to watch In Progress. If I want to start watching from the beginning, I have to wait for the whole game to be over!

As much as I would like Tuchel to believe Pulisic is always more important as a starter than he is a sub, there is absolutely no reason for him to want to leave this club at the moment. Despite the injuries that cost him the first couple months of the year, he is going to make about 40 appearances for a team that may end the season as the best in the world. Unless they show him the door he'd be pretty foolish to ask for them to open it.

I'm thinking that he's just doing a bit of public trolling for a new/better employer.

Well except that doing well against Fulham counts more that him doing well against RM in the 1st leg. Are they playing Fulham again before the CL final? Look out if so.

Pretty cool that CP traded kits with his uncle (who just so happens to be a ballon d'or winner) Luka Modric.

A few weeks ago, if someone would have bet me that this thread would be at it’s most insufferable point (to date) right after CP reached the CL final, I would have lost good money.

How on Earth is anyone reaching the conclusion that he should leave Chelsea? So he was pissed that he didn’t start, so what? Anyone who has ever led people knows that you will never make everyone happy and that you have to do what’s best for the team to succeed and that’s what TT did. Does CP have an obligation to agree?Absolutely not, but he does need to be a professional. For what its worth, I think he handled himself well in that respect both in his performance and even the post match interview. The kid appears to be fighter and I hope that he sticks it out and continues to fight to prove himself and many times as it takes, it will only make him better.

Any talk of him bailing now is just nonsense and would likely do more harm than good. Aren’t we supposed to be talking about chocolate or something?

Edit: I’m editing to add that I guarantee a CP start in the CL final. I have to attend a wedding in West Texas that day and highly doubt I get a chance to watch live.

This is true, about TT's success at Dortmund and Sven Mislintat was a huge part of the BVB renaissance IMO. TT blew it all up because Sven smoked a cigarette at the training ground. Then the bus bombing in the midst of the CL and then bad mouthed upper mgmt blaming the poor result on them. He ends up overstaying his welcome, but perhaps he has mellowed some in the time since. I still think it blows up on him once he gets comfortable, end of next season, and 18 mos is probably about the right length of tenure for him.

I am OTT with how high I rate Pulisic, but I am perfectly okay with having his minutes carefully managed. He has proven already he is more than good enough when he is fit, so his fitness needs to be priority one. He is elite company with how many times he was kicked in the first RM tie, A week off after the last three games where he set or tied records for being fouled is not really a snub. this is even moreso when the game might last 120 mins and I would rather finish with him than start.

I think it is more likely we get another year of CP at CFC. I don't think he is "for sale' but I do think he could be had for a significant profit to CFC.

    Found this interesting: https://www.fotmob.com/news/23pyiyh...sea-attacker-deserve-to-start-more-regularly?
So, based on those numbers, TT is a little less ridiculous in not starting him. Perhaps the team defensively can't afford to start him as often as he and us would like.

There's no way he's responsible for 0.8 additional goals allowed per game, while he very well may be responsible for a sizeable portion of the additional 0.5 goals scored per game...

Correlation is not causation and all of that, but he typically takes poor angles in defense and does not close down or manipulate space defensively very well. He'll try or make it look like he's trying but he very rarely affects the opposition's attack in any meaningful way. I'm not sure if Werner or Havertz are better or worse at those specific things but I doubt the swing in goals for/against is as dramatic with those guys out of the lineup.

WAR ain't no god damn sport.

But go ahead and do as you please, it's your rights; because people do go to war to give you those rights.

I’m sorry - but those of you saying he should leave this summer are looking ridiculous.
Maybe some of you are young and used to Yanks abroad having recent success, but let me remind you: we have an American player scoring goals and assisting at the highest level, who is an important player/starter AND sub for a historic London club playing in an FA Cup and CL final. Incredible. There were days were I never thought I’d see it. So enjoy it.

there were some dark days following yanks in Europe awhile back. I fell in love with the sport only 18 years ago, and I remember watching many good American players struggle for time and opportunities. I was just happy to see McBride, Dempsey and Howard highlights from time to time. And I know the generation of fans before me had even more famine when rooting for yanks abroad, as there were only 1-2 players.

so look were we are today, and all the Yanks playing at a high level and winning trophies. Enjoy it! And chill. Yes, I want CP to start all important matches, and yes I was disappointed that he was a sub - which he didn’t deserve. Yes, Tuchel can be annoying. Yes, all players have to prove themselves at this level, but maybe he does have to prove it just a litttle more than the Germans/English because of his nationality and size. But he will continue to start many big matches, and he will also come off the bench and contribute often, like he did today.
And this opportunity to play for a CL trophy for him will not come often. So let’s enjoy the ride. And remember, if he goes to another big club, even there he will have to compete for time. These top clubs are always bringing in world class talent. If he loses lots of PT next year, and is benched often, then we can have this conversation.

    now get off my lawn....

I admit I over exaggerated a bit, but the point is no club wants to keep a disgruntled player. I just don't see Chelsea doing that. Sure, they won't sell for cheap if you come in with a low ball offer because they're not desperate for cash. But if you come in with a serious offer, and the player wants to move; I am confident Chelsea would accommodate.

    Bayern low ball.

It was not a serious offer enough for Chelsea to react to. Chelsea is not desperate for money.

With all due respect, what you, I, or anyone else on this forum think is insignificant.

The only thing that matters is what Pulisic thinks, and he's damn not happy as a guy getting off the bench. So, if that doesn't change; then he will change things. It's so obvious, even a kindergarten would get that.

Well, if it IS health, as you suggest, that wouldn't alter if he left.

We'll have to see but as things stand, he's had some impressive performances for the club last year, only to then be injured and had to work his way back into the team which I think he's in the process of doing now.

I agree that if he's performing well when he plays, is reliably health and isn't getting playing time then, as you say, he'd be better to move but I very much doubt that would be the case.

It's a lot more likely that he'll be rotated in and out of the side so other players get a run-out and he'll probably have to accept that for a while. If he's then genuinely performing better than his teammates, (and, with all due respect, judgements of people in this thread won't be the ones used in making that call), then he'll play would be my bet.

Frankly, the number of attacking midfielders, (particularly ones who rely on speed, turning and dynamic acceleration), who start EVERY game for a 'big club' playing in multiple competitions are very few and far between... not least because that's a recipe for getting constant niggling injuries that don't get a chance to heal. Of course, the other reason is the best teams have other, similar players who also need to be kept happy because they might be needed.

The big difference in those numbers isn’t CP but Lampard and Tuchel. The only league game they’ve lost under Tuchel was against West Brom. Pulisic did start but they lost mostly because of an early red card on Silva. Pulisic opened the scoring but was subbed out at halftime.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with his statement. TBH, reading some of the interpretation on here of what he said made me wonder if I'd missed something so I went back and watched it again.

I don't know how long people have been watching the game but what he said is pretty much what ALL players say when they're asked if they were disappointed not to start an important match.

What do people expect him to say? 'Oh, it's fine... I don't care' :)

I mean, let's get serious here!!!

Pulisic will must likely be playing for Chelsea next season but there are future events that could change everything...

First, talk of Chelsea chasing Jadon Sancho if they can't get Haaland/Aguero has increased...Dortmund has insisted Haaland is not for sale this year and Aguero is favoring going to Barcelona for now.

Second, if Tuchel brings CP off the bench again for the UCL final...Let's hope that doesn't happen...If it does, that may do it for him.

If it’s so insignificant, why are you posting here then?
    And with all
Due respect, it’s incredible that your read minds. You are absolutely, 100% positive that CP is so angry he is going to hand in a transfer request?
No, it’s not that he’s just a competitor and is frustrated with one decision and wants to start like any other great athlete? It’s just that his anger is so overwhelming that he must move on? This inside info you have is incredible, please share more. Or I guess I could go ask local kindergartners who also have your power.

look, he’s not happy. But you act like he is permanently benched. He had to sit this one match. I too think it’s unfair, but I think you are overreacting a bit. No offense. If he wins a CL or a FA Cup, I think he may magically recover from this all-consuming rage you reference
