Torino beat Juventus soundly. Other than Pirlo's free kicks (one goal and one post) , I can't remember Juve doing anything! Quagliarella was on fire today as well!
A great win, deserved for Ventura and the boys, needed to get that monkey off their backs. As usual, Darmian played an exceptional match, caused all sorts of problems for Juve. Ogbonna standing in the area like a statute while Darmian got to his poorly first touched ball for the goal was particularly pleasing. I like Quags and appreciate his efforts and especially the winning goal, but his lack of celebration on his goal was a bit rankling. I understand it, but still ... they gave up on your a55 Fabio. Let 'em have it. For once in a LONG time the other shoe does not drop for Toro! #FVCG!!
Where are all the Torino fans? I fell in love with Torino a couple of years ago when Cerci and Immobile were so good together, but they've both left and Torino have moved on. I think Ventura tries to play good, intelligent, attacking football, and that's why I like them. They lost another big player this summer in Matteo Darmian, but it hasn't really shown so far. They brought in what I thought was an excellent direct replacement for him in Davide Zappacosta (though I don't know how flexible he is in regards to playing on the left), but he hasn't even got a game yet, instead Danilo Avelar or Molinaro have been playing on the left with the excellent Bruno Peres holding down his spot on the right. Belotti I haven't seen play yet, but it's good to have a young striker amongst all the oldies, and Daniele Baselli has been a fantastic signing. He's surely one of the first names on the team sheet now. As well as buying well, they also managed to keep hold of some of their best players that other clubs were interested in. Maksimovic would've been a big loss, the back three of Moretti/Glik/Maksimovic is fantastic, so I was delighted when Cairo refused to give in to Napoli. Roma were also apparently after Bruno Peres, but I don't know how far that one got and if he was ever close to going, but again, I was delighted that he stayed. Four games in, three wins, unbeaten, 2nd in the league. Going well. Hopefully they can push for Europe again this season.
On the Rai's domenica sportiva last noght, they talked about Toro and how fans held private fundraisers to raise 8 million Euro to rebuild a makeshift (smaller) replica of and at the old Filadelfia stadium. The new digs will have a regulation field with 2000 grandstand seats.

May 4th, marks the 73rd anniversary of the Superga air disaster which occurred on 4 May 1949, when an Italian Airlines flight, carrying the entire Torino football team (popularly known as the Grande Torino), crashed into the retaining wall at the back of the Basilica of Superga, which stands on a hill on the outskirts of Turin. Thirty-one people died; there were no survivors.
