Is there any chance Cowell plays for Mexico? I dont think I've ever been this excited about an MLS homegrown before.

I doubt it. Even many second generation immigrant kids with two Mexican parents often seem have a hard time fitting in. Cowell has “gringo” written all over him.

The Cade (n)’s are taking over MLS. Can’t wait to see how Clark plays later today. Hopefully Amaya and Harper play too (fun fact: they go way back used to be teammates with Pateadores in the DA)

We’ll see he does have a Mexico flag in his Twitter bio and obviously lives in a state with a heavy Mexican culture.

    So Cal
I would Guess that we wouldn't have to worry about "losing him to Mexico" unless he felt that we don't want him but Mexico does. Not likely in my estimation.

Considering Cowell isn't a very common Mexican surname, I suspect that his father is not Mexican. Because much of the love for Mexican soccer is usually passed down from the father, he would likely have a greater love for the USMNT rather than El Tri. I say this because you can feel similar love for the two countries, while preferring one soccer team over the other.

Of course he could have Uncles and or cousins that are fanatical fans of Mexican soccer (liga Mx and El Tri). That may or may not change the equation somewhat.

Looks like he put a little bit of muscle on, too. He's still short, but he no longer looks like a kid.

Plenty of Mexican kids leaving in those states feel like total strangers in Mexico.

It seems that his mother Amber was born here as well.
"Cowell is of Mexican descent through his matrilineal line and is eligible to play for both the United States and Mexico national teams. His mother, Amber Maldonado Cowell, earned multiple accolades in multiple sports in high school, as did his father, Debin Slade Cowell, who played football for San Jose State. He is the eldest of three children".

Red Bull’s don’t play in a way that seems to suit Clark or his development. Barely looking to play shorter passes. Everything is a long ball to the forwards.

Not that you are wrong but do Leipzig play much different? I feel like that is the style of football he is being developed for, isn't he?

feels like rbny need to get better to play the red bull way. not enough good pressers and too many lofted long balls instead of line breaking pinged ones etc

Pretty sure Leipzig can play the ball in possession in a much more balanced way. Still have the pressing.

RB look better in this second half with the formation change

This is becoming very commonplace. There are very few good fullbacks now who don’t underlap.

With Saldana having started two in a row, I hope Alvarado has a good deal locked up somewhere in Europe because that would’ve been his spot. The last three LAG products to leave (Mendez, Llanez, and KHF) didn’t make the best decisions in where to move to.

I know my kids (half Mexican....mother born and raised in Chihuahua) would not feel very comfortable in Mexico. They are fine being Mexican in the US but would probably have a lot of adjusting to do in Mexico.

Isn't Llanez rumored to go to Houston on a loan?

It sure is a waste of talent to see players like Llanez, Hernandez-Foster, Mendez and Soto not getting much playing time. They could have been playing in MLS and be getting more experience already.

This is what the Mexican-American kids at FCD have said.

I always am reminded of the quote by Giuseppe Rossi. He said that when he's in America he feels Italian, but when he's in Italy he feels American. Makes total sense.

We've heard some of these kids (Abraham Romero for instance) say they feel more "at home" in a Mexico youth camp. I suspect that's a rarity, though.

I don't think we have to worry about Cade Cowell. For Pete's sake, he was just at a full USMNT camp. Just like Berhalter and staff have been aggressive in bringing the foreign-based dual nationals into camps, they've been doing so with US-based dual-nationals too. Ricardo Pepi to U23 camp prior to qualifying is another example.

Cowell looks like a frat boy or a villain in an 80's karate movie. Wouldn't worry about his exit. He's playing for the US.
