Even though you can see why Wondo got a red, it still bothered me because it reminded me when David Accam did worse to Espinoza - clearly on purpose - and nothing happened despite there being a clear chance to VAR. Cade's fake move on the second defender when he scored was awesome, made the goal.
I think the Quakes should make the attempt to get it repealed. Wondo unintentionally stepped on the Dallas player when that player's kicking leg came across his body. It was not studs up, he did not leave his feet, there was no excessive force, it was not a rash move that endangered the safety of an oppoenent.
I nearly mentioned the David Accam thing. There is no world in which that wasn't a red. I still think about that, and how, in a VAR world, that happened with no red. The fakes were perfect. I was in soccer heaven.
Im glad to see Marie getting minutes, and frankly, I prefer him thus far over any body of work ive seen Lopez put forth at left back. That spot should be Marie's to lose. Soooo Haji........if Chofis continues to be as uninspiring as he is, do we see what the kid can do?
Well young fella, talk to @Beerking and @markmcf8 about 2001-2003 some day and see if they can't share some sunshine with you.
I know it's bad taste to quote your own post but Almeyda said something postgame that is exactly what I was attempting to describe...He just said it much more eloquently . And this is so refreshingly different than Kinnear mentality. All those players screwing up would be on the bench next week and the players would start to play increasingly tight, afraid to make a mistake.
I never watch ANYTHING in real time ... I am addicted to my TiVo and streaming because I want to pause any time or rewind if I missed something, and most of all skipping commercials!
If anyone thinks that they will overturn this red card, or the Quakes will waste one of there 2 challenges to reclined a red card on a reserve player, I suggest you don't waste your time hoping, they wont over turn it, nor will they waste their. Wondolowski made a mistake, he fouled the guy like a bi*ch, and he will serve his suspension, and then come back. He had 0 reason to stomp on the guy. Was it a mistake probably. As I stated, IF someone from Dallas did that to anyone on our team, we would have been screaming for the straight red card. The ref gave a lot of cards, but he kept it balanced as @markmcf8 stated. I don't think he called a bad game at all. Its very uncalled for, it's harassment and he is lucky I do not publicly out him, I know he's seen the messages he's around often. This should be a valuable lesson. However he is lucky, I didn't turn and thot drop him, I thought about it, but I was in a good mood. I don't find it funny at all.
That red card foul looks a lot worse now that I’ve gotten a better look. I have another question though. The ref initially showed a yellow card, and then went to VAR. BUT, yellow cards are not reviewable while red cards are. I thought that this might lead to some refs showing a red card just to get the chance to review the foul on video. However, if they can review yellow cards, then there’s no need for that. So did the ref choose to review the foul, or did the VAR guys say: “You better come take a look at this.” And, are the VAR guys allowed to do that? I’m just wondering about the mechanics of it. I hope that the refs get to review yellow cards if they think that it’s warranted. Even though that would slow the game down, water breaks slow the game down too, as do celebrations, and standing over an opponent’s free kick, and lots of other things. So I’d be OK with this. But I’m not sure if that’s really how it works. Go Quakesfans!! - Mark

I was at the game yesterday. The way people were forced to be spread actually made it felt like there were more people. It was nice to be back out at the park again. Espinoza's PK was terrible. He tried to power it down the middle. It was nice to see him chip on the goal. I was worried he would try to power it and hit the keeper again and waste the nice pass from Cowell. As for the red card, I had walked out already and didn't see it in person. I watched the replay, and it was deserved. It's doesn't matter if he intended it or not. It was reckless and deserving of it.
Oh, there's plenty of season left for that! But, it felt great to be back and I'll take the win and feel pretty good about it!
And I want to add, it was so refreshing and eye pleasing to see blue and white tops again all over the field. Far superior to black.
MLS Saturday: Cade Cowell, 17, shows off skills with impressive goal and assist for Quakes by Paul Kennedy @pkedit, Today Wow who have thought?
I used to support the Clippers but once they go semi-decent my English feed for me. I don't like the red. Not sure I'd call it soft because it was by the book, but I think in all games that ends up being a red (unless it's a league protected player of course.)
