As Werder's chances to go down are above 50%, we will learn that pretty soon.

Nah, you got it backwards. All that excellent work Josh does in holdup, connecting passes and off the ball work is exactly what the 9 needs to do in Gregg's system. The goals are expected to come from movement and overloads and mismatches, not just a dominant #9 or a poacher near the goal.

Josh was built for that system. Just like Dike was built to come in at the 75' mark and physically and mentally destroy a tired backline.

The better team lost yesterday and Sargent was really unlucky on the goal. Overall I think he played okay, created space for the others and got into positions well but was just really unlucky that the VAR and then the ref got it wrong (after first getting it right) on the goal. Maybe more luck on Saturday against Union.

I can't think of two more polar opposites. Green can't do anything but score and Sarge can do everything but score.

The difference is that Sarge helps the rest of the team and will likely start scoring with the right team in BL whereas Green can't get a promotion because all the things he can't do will weigh too heavily on a BL team.

If Werder go down, they should sell Sarge and buy Green.

How many people agree Sarge > Soloth or Hwang or Kluivert?

I didn't get why Sarge's goal was called back. As far as I could tell, the GK fouled Mowhald and the ref said it was the other way around.

That was a completely bogus call IMO... especially considering the call on the field was a goal. On top of that the announcer was particularly hard on Josh last night even though IMO he was quite clearly the best player for Bayern. Even when an Amazon pop-up late in the game showed that Josh had completed 94% of his passes and 100% of his crosses the announcer still downplayed it. I thought Sarge was quite good in this one and hope they keep him at ACM until he can find his way onto a team with a legit midfield.

People got all snitty when I put him in midfield but it has helped his game a ton. When Jozy couldnt score goals with Sunderland he was toast because he couldn't really do anything else having played in USA and Holland where he scored a bucketload.

I actually like Sarge in the 3421 with Weah or Morris up top (maybe Dike???) because I think people will see he has a wide ranging game with lots of skills (altho getting behind big CB's in BL from the CF position isn't his forte ).

I'm actually not the only one who thinks Sarge is more Dempsey than Jozy.

Sargent needs to score some damn goals! He's so close to a cup final which could be a huge moment for himself and the club.

Should have had one yesterday that was called back. Still doesn’t make sense that it was. The goalie was not in complete possession of the ball and it was touched away from him. It didn’t look like the player went through the goalie to get a touch on the ball either.

It was a BS call just to irritate the BS members. Should have another one for Josh!

Depends who else you got. Different positions/skill set.

But for me Green brings a FK/long shot threat that is perhaps more special/unique to some teams at the moment.

Don’t look now but Bremen are in relegation battle

Florian is a bad coach... as I’ve stated for two years.

Well, the best we can say is that he wasn't responsible for any goal.

If I’m a negative Nancy I say Sarge should have cleared that one corner kick over the side line, not the end line. The resulting corner was the first Union goal. But I’m not, so I won’t. Man Bremen sucks. They will need a miracle to stay up.

I think there are a bunch of first division teams who would like to try out a new striker, and think ones who were the best attacker in a crap attack might be relateively cheap vs production in an attack that's medium crappy and not total crap. I don't think there would be a Barcelona - Real Madrid bidding war, but more than half the teams out there would like to upgrade their attack, and he might be at the right price point for one of them.

But he hasn’t been a good attacker, even if he was the best on a very bad team.

The problem would be that at his price point unless he produces right off the bat he'll be in danger of le bench and all that comes with that. He's not in a good spot if they go down I don't think there is much spin you can put on that. The best case is they stay up and he is the clear #1 striker heading into next season and he produces more and then gets sold for enough that he'll get a longer leash.
