@Lyra I read news that the British government is stepping in. They have a say on this, especially they have the rights to grant visa and entry to their country. And British government already make a statement, they side with UEFA and FIFA. This is about the only hope I hope these billionairs wet dream Super league won't go through, is the government interfere. And ofcourse they will side with their Premier league.
Let's let the people who ruined Manchester United ruin the whole sport, that's surely going to attract some interest.
Napoli denies involvement 🚨| De Laurentis [Napoli president] denies the Super League rumors: “JP Morgan called me? When? I was sleeping."— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) April 20, 2021
Which is that they want their cake and to eat it too. How considerate of them. If they want to stay in the domestic league too, that gives the "other" 14 EPL clubs quite a lot of power here.
Actually, I have an impression that he knows that Arsenal will be the doormat team of ESL for many years to come. He still has hopes of Arsenal finishing in the top 4 and play in the CL the following season. They are capable of reaching the CL quarterfinal or beyond with a lucky draw. In the ESL, Arsenal is probably the weakest team after AC Milan and they don't have AC milan's glorious history in Europe as well. Even for Real Madrid, we won't be in the top three every single season. We might be battling in the mid-table for some seasons. The fans of every clubs in the ESL has been enjoying our status quo for too long. I am 100% sure that we won't be happy.
Seriously, do you think Perez is an amateur? Every one of those 12 clubs signed a legaly binding contract, they can't afford to back out. Involving Boris Johnson in this is absolutely laughable. What did Boris do to help the clubs during this pandemic? What does he have to do with football, this is just another politician trying to gain some popularity points after he "scanned the room" first.
Not sure how true this is but supposedly the EPL would need 15 team votes to take any significant action against the participating clubs (or any long term action) which is why the SL made sure that 6 teams were involved.
Hi, bigsoccer poster here, I gave up American live sports for a year when I studied abroad and was never able to get back into watching a sport with that many commercials again (though ironically I have to admit it was also because MFer stole my favorite team and moved it across the country). Anyway, how about we just don't let matches become 4 hours long? Nearly all American sports have not adopted random sponsors across jersey chests and world football has not adopted TV timeouts. Apocalyptic-level commercialization is not an inevitability.
@Lyra Not much from Pep, but here is what he said: Pep Guardiola: "Sport is not a sport when the relation between the effort and reward don’t exist. It’s not a sport when it doesn’t matter if you lose." The boss speaks out! 💙🗣 @marathonbet🔷 #ManCity | https://t.co/axa0klUGiM— Manchester City (@ManCity) April 20, 2021
UEFA cares and knows more about football that a few american billionaires who call the sport soccer and dont even knows the rules

Even liga teams have started speaking up ❗| Cádiz players will wear "Win it on the field" shirts against Real Madrid tomorrow, like Leeds did vs Liverpool. Cádiz are against the Super League. @marca pic.twitter.com/VjrfRcZoXU— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) April 20, 2021
Go watch the whole thing. He also said don't jump the gun and ranted about UEFA. Why don't you mention that?
Perfect, thank you for confirming what I suspected, that even loud protesters with strong opinions do not understand the very basics of what the Super League is. It is not a "league" like the domestic leagues, it is a "league" like the Champions League i.e. a tournament with round robins. 12 teams play 18 games 4 teams play 20 games 2 teams play 22 games 2 teams play 23 games.
The Superleague teams currently in the CL semi finals would eventually go to court if kicked out by the UEFA for "using cartel rules to prevent the athletes from performing their job". There has been similar pro athlete rulings in winter sports and athletics with athletes that compete in both official federation events, but also private tournaments like the golden league and so on. Also, 3 out of 4 teams dropping out would do incredible damage to the CL as it stands, with broadcasters suing the UEFA for damages. The general idea is that this will be decided in the court room no matter what.
The idea becomes dumber by the day. So we were complaining about CL expanding because players are being asked to play too many games but now you play more games anyway without the saving grace of going out early if the team has injuries. All FIFA has to do is congest the calendar. There are back to back Euro and WC coming up, I doubt players will want to miss that to take their chances on am experimental league.
The idea of playing more games win or lose was something the UEFA actually backed because it gives teams more screen time and more money. The new CL format was proposed to have a minimum of 8 matches for every team involved.
Whatever comes out of this, i welcome the shake up. Things can't "continue as they are". Teams are bound to go bankrupt at this point, and the players "speaking out" are in no way ready to get paid half that. See Ander Herrera who openly said he joined PSG because he felt earning less than PSG were offering was "a lack of respect". People want their pockets stuffed and their mind at ease. It just doesn't work like that.
Some dinosaurs complaining about change in this thread. I'm really glad that majority of them are trolls who aren't even fans of RM(Fierro and company).
4x4 and YoungStar making some good points that I'm too lazy to type on phone. Especially 4x4 who obviously knows more about this (Basketball) than half of these guys who don't even understand basics. End of the day, everybody will watch Super League. You're free to go watch Cadiz play Eibar live, oh wait. So sad when people live in the past. They'd rather UEFA pocket everything. Terrible management, FFP, refereeing, corruption, Qatar WC, Country owned clubs lmao. Can't get worse. Vamos Flo, now go and get us Mbappe and lead us to 14th/15th trophy.
