I've read that man utd and Liverpool are going through with it as they think deludely that it will benefit football long term. I hope it falls like a pack of cards. That the big clubs will have sanctions against them regardless. Itz mad why Chelsea or City would want this as they're one step away from a champions league final
I think once one club backs out, a couple more will follow. Likely a game of chicken as to who jumps first. Then paint Man Utd/Liverpool/Madrid as the bad boys.
At least one of the ‘big six’ English clubs is considering whether to withdraw from the new Super League after being taken aback by the volume of opposition, including from their own fans https://t.co/XsSUX3uYPt— The Times and The Sunday Times (@thetimes) April 20, 2021 Interesting they are using pictures of Liverpool with this story.
I think man utd Liverpool are the English instigators in this along with real Madrid Barcelona juve. The others don't really want to be a part of this but dare'nt lose out on a cash windfall. Man utd owners know they have little chance of winning any major silverware so need to make up their huge losses somewhere. Liverpool were probably banking on being in the title race at this stage plus being champions league contenders. City would be foolish to give up the prospect of finally winning a champions league. Chelsea have finally turned the corner. I dont believe that the other clubs will follow through with this. Just the main instigators man utd Liverpool real Madrid Barcelona juve.
I can't imagine Henderson is calling this meeting because everybody thinks the ESL is a good idea. EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has called an emergency meeting of the Premier League captains to discuss a response to ESL. More @MailSport shortly.— Mike Keegan (@MikeKeegan_DM) April 20, 2021
The so called big 6 have massively over played there hand. If they go through with the Super League they wouldn't have any players, any managers and no fans in England.
Have to hand it to his PR people there. He's managed to "respond" without actually saying anything at all.
Pickford Lamptey White Mings Cresswell Bellingham Maddison Rice Sancho Vardy Grealish Maybe something like that. It could be decent.
Vardy did say he would come out of retirement in an emergency. Wtf thought it would be these circumstances
That raises an interesting point. It would mean that national team players, (and not just of England), would tend to leave those clubs and go to ones like Bayern and PSG or, indeed, ANY club not in the ESL. So if all the best international players aren't in the 'so-called' 'super-league', how super is that going to be.
