And, of course, that only works as long as the USWNT wins. If they bomb out with the "name", but old/injured players everybody loses - especially the in form younger players who never got their chance. Winning with Balcer would make them all a lot more money than losing with Lloyd, but they only get to run the simulation once. I wonder what 51-0-1 going to China Greg Ryan is up to these days... EDIT: Sitting on his couch. He was fired from Michigan after the 2018 season
Its called marketing. I know first hand that your opening statement is true for some and not others. what speed of play? VS who Different jobs, I get it, but he was able to go 51-0-1 with the WNT. The greatest trick the USSF pulled was convincing people that International soccer is somehow the highest form of the game. They use that to convince people that players in their mid 30s and older are better because they can still win International games. It all goes against logic, but the narrative then becomes, these players are just freakishly good. When they dont perform outside the USWNT confines, its because they are not trying, or their teammates are not of the same level etc. The super league could be a very interesting challenge to the narrative if it goes through. If you don't judge players on a similar ongoing performance standard, then it is hard to know what constitutes success. The WNT are the most successful NT in the world.
In this instance, Olympics, it helps some of the top teams in the world will be MIA, thanks to the EU's system... >chuckles<
We are less than 24 hours out - - - - The 202One Olympic Women's Futbol Draw is Wednesday April 21, 4:00 a.m. (ET), 3:00 a.m. (CT), 2:00 a.m. (MT), 1:00 a.m. (PT) 10:00 p.m. (Hawaii T) The draw will be carried live on the FIFA youtube thingy channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpcTrCXblq78GZrTUTLWeBw The event will be held in Zurich and Lindsay Tarpley will be present to insure no funny business occurs. Oh how I love the FIFA Pots and Balls. ........who else is going to be awake?
Given that it's at best 50/50 that the tournament actually happens, I'm not too worried about the draw.
This must be the dumbest post I seen in this forum for many years. 1. EU don't have anything to do with how UEFA's spots are distributed. 2. UEFA is allocated three spots. Please describe what way you would use to alllocated them so more of UEFA teams in the top 6 of the World can be part of the Olympics than they way UEFA used. The team we want more inlcuded of is: No 2 Germany No 3 Netherlands No 4 France No 5 Sweden No 6 England (UK in the Olympics)
My point, in using the World cup as qualifying for the Olympics the European contingent allowed the number 1 team in the world to dictate who goes by luck of the draw. Not the best Eurpoean Team (s) by playing just EU Teams to determine the teams to go.
I am.... but I may be making breakfast so live ball by ball coverage here might consist of what marmalade I decide upon.
FIFA is sure taking their sweet *ssed time announcing who the Greatest Team in the Universe is playing. i'm calling the Pope to see if he can move this along.
Z - truly highly evolved, good looking and extremely intelligent individuals are following the draw live.
If we keepwinning World Cups and Olympics I submit it doesn’t much matter the process, for the National team. but I agree the clubs need to take over the primary player contracts so players can’t be hijacked for weeks at atime during the season.
The US Group has the highest average FIFA rating but I'm tempted to call Japan's Group the Group of Death because it has the single biggest gamechanger among the 4th seeded (Pot 4) teams: Christiane Endler, the goalkeeper for Chile. She can knock a team out of the tournament by holding them to a tie. Call it Group E — the Endler Times. It also has another wild card in Team Great Britain because we don't know how much the addition of players from Scotland, Wales (and possibly North Ireland) will help the mainly English team — or hurt it.
playing the toughest team first, has its pro’s & cons; we’ll be on our toes right from the start(as our 2016 squad never seemed to have woke up) but since physically, Sweden matches up so well, we could see injuries right at the beginning as well New Zealand only in there cuz they qualified from a very weak zone Australia looked awful in their friendlies last week, lost to Netherlands 0-5 and then to Germany’s mostly C squad 2-5 your breakfast sounds so un-American! You mean you weren’t inspired by Alex Morgan’s one second appearance McDonald’s ad?
Holy moly, holy moly I really need to get my computer chair equipped with a seatbelt and shoulder harness. Vegas had the odds of the Only Team That Matters and the Yellow Shirts in the same Group at 1-200, a virtual cinch. We’re not lacking for storylines (but that’s never a problem) Swed’s, Sam Kerr, Tom Sermanni. Opening Match Tokyo Stadium Baby!!!!! Please please please NBC, get Hope Solo to do the commentary on one of your Platforms. With the Aussie’s and Kiwi’s in our group it’s just one huge Travel and Tourism play. You better start squaring away your Air BnB’s for WWC 2023. Only 1,187,785 Minutes till we go down under. The Team and Fans will be channeling these awesome Women:
I dislike the way FIFA administers their "draws". I resent this designation as G2 from this morning. We're not "2" anything - - - - oh wait, check that - we are Two Time Reigning, Two Time Defending Women's World Cup Champions. Maybe FIFA was giving us a shout-out ?!?!?
Probably the hardest possible group, particularly with the "fantastic" form team GB's components have. Though Aus have not been playing well recently either, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Matildas really raise their game. I disagree that NZ is weak for 4 seed--I'd prefer the other sides for the 4 pot. NZ will be well organized and make us work to break them down.
I've just realized.... the Final starts at 3 am my time !!! Jacky, set me a wake up call and put a pot of coffee on
