Erdoğan became the first female coach in the National Independent Soccer Association and is currently the only woman currently coaching in men’s professional soccer in the United States.
CORRECTION: Duygu Erdoğan is the third female coach in National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) history. The first was Christiane Lessa with Atlanta SC in Fall 2019. The second was Carrie Taylor with Stumptown AC in 2021. Both of these women served as Assistant Coaches for their respective clubs.
