Anyway, CHI and LOU have now joined ORL in the 1pt/2g club, already greatly reducing the number of teams realistically in the running for the final. Thorns are very strongly in the driver's seat for the West representative now; we'll have to see if their rivals or the defending Cup champs can slow them down.

Sanchez and Rodman are allowed to play on Spirit, then we'll kindly offer them starting positions on Angel City FC next season
Are you asking in response to the Spirit game last night? It was previously announced that their first game would be closed-door while the second would have fans. See my post in the thread from April 3rd.
Well, there are two ways to look at tonight's result: A) only three matches so far have seen more than one goal; those three matches saw 12 of the 15 total goals B) the three matches involving last year's finalists have only seen one goal total; the other five matches have given 14 of the 15 total goals
In other news, the West is almost entirely decided now; the big question will be if POR beats SEA this coming midweek, as that would put POR on 9pts while three or four of their competitors would have a max of 8pts or less.
i've watched her very closely as well (for a while - saw her a couple of times on tv playing for colorado) and i share your opinion. furthermore, somebody needs to hire wambach's best coach or abby herself to coach this player. she is a once in a decade (or so) project.
Kornieck played half a season for Duisburg but couldn’t get a goal, but that was the last placed team in the Bundesliga(so didn’t have the quality backup). Her American team mate, Beucam(misspell?) scored 3 goals for that German club. I remember her match with Colorado St vs then, #1 Florida St, where she was so dominant. But being so tall might make it harder at an higher, pro level
This Carolina/Gotham match is a barn-burner. To hell with defense, attack! Debinha is still the best player in the league -- and Mitch Purce is showing that maybe she should be a forward on the national team.
without previous regular starters like Eceg, Dahlkemper & Hinkle, NC’s defense looks almost high schoolish. maybe it’s cuz so many moved on to the better paying WSL in England, but it does feel like a new golden generation of American players are beginning to emerge(especially on offense) can’t find any full game replays on YouTube, where’s a good place to watch streamed NWSL games without going through the CBS pay service
Watching most of the Orlando/Washington match, Orlando gritted out a victory, mostly because of Harris's many spectacular saves. But Alex Morgan and Syd Leroux played a lot of defense, and Marta was like a defensive mid fending off Washington's many fruitless attacks. The league doormat (Orlando) and newbie (Racing Louisville) as well as perennial loser Sky Blue, now Gotham, have all been worth watching this year. By contrast, the first half of the Chicago/KC match was like watching the grass grow. Boring. It sounds like it got better in the second half. I still have to watch that. A Kerr-less Chicago is tooth-less.
A Horan free kick has Portland up at the moment. While the story of the East is chaos, it seems like the story of the West is "everyone draws, except Portland wins by one goal". Very even looking at scorelines, though rather tilted on the table.
I am hearing that the host team for the championship game will be the group champion that has accumulated the most points in its group competition.
That would make sense in general; just odd to announce it now. The cynic in me makes me think they always wanted it in Portland, and just waited to see if Portland gave them a sporting reason to justify hosting duties. X-D Even if Portland loses to Houston, which is unlikely, the East looks too even for anyone to best the 9pts Portland already has.
.you should take up with your analyst. No competition ever has decided that the basis should be to award a venue to the team with second best record. LOL it’s more likely they didn’t announce the final location because there wasn’t certainty that all teams had a venue available for the final. Orlando City, for instance, is taken on the day of the final in the evening. That’s probably why they will play the match at 10:00 AM pacific. I’m pretty sure if the league was doing special favors for Portland they wouldn’t have scheduled the match for a time before people here are done having their morning Lattes. the idea to award the home match to the team with the best record isn’t exactly a new concept. It’s been done every year for playoffs and for the finals before the league started awarding finals before the season. and if you don’t think that’s what the arrangement was this time, listen to Becky Saurbrunn’s interview before she left the field. The last sentence was “and now, let’s try to win a home game” in reference to the final game on the schedule. https://www.timbers.com/thornsfc she had no idea all the East Coast teams would tank their chances in the following two days of competition. but it’s good to be the Death Star again. I love it when the rest of the League is paranoid.
