US Closed Cup. what a joke. Cindy Parlow Cone struck me as a smart woman who probably gets input from the 99ers, but it feels like she is letting that new USSoccer CEO, Will Wilson (Andrew Luck's uncle) make American Soccer a subsidiary of MLS. She's gotta wake up!
It's not great, but there is still a pandemic going on that makes it difficult to send dozens of underfunded teams all over the country. If you think this year's version of the tournament is closed, you should have seen last year's.
Then they should have offset it by three months. Simply making an executive decision to totally remake the way the tournament has been run since MLS started is arbitrary, unfair, and once again shows the incredible arrogance and tone-deafness of USSF. I strongly believe that the entire soccer infrastructure, from FIFA, down to the Confederations, and to the national federations are dirty as hell and in bad need of a real housecleaning...
Holding the full tournament but pushing it back three months introduces all kinds of logistical problems as it pushes into MLS/USL playoffs, multiple fall international windows, and it still would be pretty much impossible for USL League 2 teams that generally disband by late July. The most prudent thing would probably be to just cancel it again.
I just think that rather than assign MLS teams all the slots, they should have given a few at the different tiers.

Wow. After watching Leeds take down Manchester City I can only dream of the Quakes playing as hard for Almeyda as Leeds United play for Bielsa. That was so inspiring.
Mo Salah just scored the equalizer for Liverpool in the 57th and Trent Alexander-Arnold scored in the 91st against Aston Villa. Liverpool 2-Aston Villa 1!
I think the question is will they spend enough in the off season and make a real effort to stay in the top flight? Or be another West Brom and bounce back and forth between the Premier League and the Championship?
I just had to share this as it’s such a rare event.. and due to the games in hand of the teams below us I don’t feel like I’m tempting fate as the chances of it staying this way at the end of the Season is very remote... but, we should be good for a play off spot!! UTP!!

You wonder why Almeyda loves living in Willow Glen as opposed to Rome.... Three armed men robbed Chris #Smalling’s home in Rome last night, forcing the defender to open the safe and give them a Rolex and jewels. https://t.co/fNMNd1mPS2 #ASRoma #Roma #SerieA #Calcio #UEL #RomaAjax pic.twitter.com/fK9NutWR2x— Football Italia (@footballitalia) April 16, 2021
