El Atlético de Madrid acabó en tercera posición con 33 puntos. Posiblemente fue el bravo defensa Aparicio su mejor elemento. También funcionó bastante bien su delantera, cuyos dos mejores hombres fueron, posiblemente, Juncosa (13 goles), Vidal (22 goles) y Silva, un jugador muy técnico, con mucho talento, aunque irregular y que ocupó posiciones tanto de delantero centro como de interior izquierdo. COPA DEL GENERALÍSIMO El Real Madrid lo pasó muy mal en octavos de final, ya que el Betis lo goleó 4-0, teniendo que remotar en Madrid 6-0, con 3 partidos de Barinaga. Otro hecho destacado fueron los 6 goles que metió Panizo en el 6-2 al Levante. El Valencia, campéon de liga fue eliminado por el Celta. En cuartos de final, Atlético de Bilbao 12 – Celta 1, con 8 goles de Gaínza, y el Barcelona es derrotado en su campo por el Tarragona, no pudiendo remontar en el partido de vuelta. Respecto a la tremenda goleada del Atlético, se cuenta una anécdota muy curiosa. Ricardo Zamora, entonces entrenador del Celta, les dijo a sus jugadores que el hombre a vigilar era Panizo, algo que parece ser que hicieron a la perfección; el problema es que se olvidaron marcar a Gaínza, y la prueba es que en ese solo partido marcó más goles que en toda la liga. En las semifinales, 3 goles del Calvo en el 5-3 del Español a Tarragona y victoria del Real Madrid sobre el Atlético de Bilbao (3-2). En los partidos de vuelta, el Real Madrid gana 1 -0 en San Mamés con gol de Molowny y excelente partido de Ipiña. El Español fue el otro finalista aunque perdiera 1-0 en Tarragona. Finalmente, el Real Madrid gana 2 – 0 al Español y en un violento partido con varias expulsiones, entre ellas la de Molowny. Se comenta el protagonismo de Bañón en el título.

En cuanto al interior izquierdo, si bien Molowny ocupó el puesto de interior derecho en más ocasiones que el izquierdo, él mismo manifestó que su puesto ideal era el de interior izquierdo. Me da la sensación que tuvo una mejor temporada que Igoa. Para delantero centro me inclino por Zarra por una sencilla razón: su eficacia goleadora, aunque no parece que fuera un ejemplo de juego técnico. Pruden, Lángara o Araújo serían otros ejemplos de eficacia, pero sin llegar a la de Zarra. César se empleó como interior y como delantero centro, pero creo que estuvo muy lejos de sus mejores temporadas.
