And not a CB, unless there’s a joke I’m not getting.

McKenzie (not McKennie) is a CB.

I thought it was a reference to Brian Reynolds and “a joke I’m not getting,” but Mark McKenzie to Belgium makes the most sense.

Just to counter the original report, I am told there is NO option to buy on this loan

I once met a German girl in SF and her family was in the place used to be German but later on hold by Russia. So all those German population spoke Russian. They later on were allowed to move to Germany.

They are called Spätaussiedler or late repatriates. "Repatriates of German origin are persons from the countries of the former Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact who had faced persecution and serious discrimination dew to their German ethnicity in the course and still years after the end of World War II. (link)"

When I lived in Berlin in the mid-nineties, most of the language schools I went to were filled with Spätaussiedler.

Key piece of info from that was this:

“I'm thinking with me establishing some time here in Germany with Bayern, that might open some doors with the German national team,” Che said. “They'll most likely keep an eye on me. I'm not really set on one national team specifically. I'm not really set on playing for just the US or playing just for Germany. I kind of want to keep my door always open until I got to make the decision at the time.”

Thanks for the article. Really interesting family background. Would be really crazy to have a kid born, raised and developed in the US play for the German national team. A bit like Rossi but probably even more improbable. Of course I hope he sticks with the US set-up.

Always an interesting debate whether it would be better for players like him to play for FC Dallas's or other MLS first team the next few years or go the route of Chris Richards. Of course it worked out for Chris but, then you have various others (i.e. Taylor Booth) that it doesn't pan out and getting 1st team minutes in the MLS prob would have been the better move. I guess you have to take the risk, especially if you have a Euro passport.

Man o man... if he plays for Germany I would be so bummed. I watched almost every North Texas Game last season mainly because of him. Now I will ignore him until I know he is on our side or not.

    Spoiler: zero
    .
He can't even say the word BM gladbach right.

Biggest self inflincted over hype since Adu.
