0-0 at the half. Coventry have definitely been the better side, but Rotherham have created a chance or two, as well. I'd guess the latter will be happier going into the second half level, but I'd guess Coventry will be happier with a draw, should it come to pass. Enjoying it. And happy enough to wish Rotherham well. But pulling for a side in red with white sleeves does not feel quite right, somehow.
And there it is. 0-1 Coventry. The goal conceded from a set piece conceded from a foul just outside the box - really a tough one. Harding had gone in for what would have been a lovely tackle, but he just didn't bring his foot round enough to get the ball ... the difference between possession and a foul. And between being level and down a goal. Rough. Rotherham had theretofore been just as good as Coventry in the second half, to my mid.
What a disappointment, apart from hitting the post first half and free kicks launched into the box from long we never looked like scoring. Well deserved win for Coventry, could have been more. Wycombe and this match will probably send us down, two big games lost convincingly.
And that's that. A very tough loss. I won't say that Coventry weren't worth their three points ... but they'd no reason to feel aggrieved to have got only one.
I really didn't see it as a convincing loss, to be honest. Though perhaps Johansson's efforts made it seem otherwise. Certainly they were better in the first half, and had a different job to do after going up a goal. Absolutely Rotherham could've been better in attack, and in no way do I think they were worth all three points. But, having weathered the first half, they probably should've got one.
Yeah I'd say Johansson was our MOTM, first half they could have scored 2-3 particularly first 15-20mins. We don't seem to turn up in games we're expected to do well in though doesn't bode well for Birmingham. We could do with winning 2 on the bounce now but that rarely happens. I think that's why other teams would have preferred Coventry winning and keeping us at arms length.
Warne's post-match reaction: Oh wait.. wrong video. https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2...ything-we-tried-to-ask-they-answered---warne/ Birmingham here we come, hoping for a big response or this is going to slowly slip away.
We got what we deserved for missing so many chances but at least we were the better team today. Losing is not so good though, Birmingham were poor enough without them being on their summer holidays against Derby.
That's Coventry and Brum pretty much safe now. Derby's pretty much the only hope of catching. Games in hand and they're well and truly shit, so all hope is not lost. Still, not a good day, in the end.
I don't even have any confidence we can catch them on their current tally of 43pts, that's why I said in the Wednesday thread if they can get within 3pts of Derby going into the last game they could still stay up. Birmingham were so bad though, I'm struggling to see how Derby won't beat them. If we'd taken our chances against Huddersfield and Birmingham the table would look very different but that's why we are where we are.
There was only ever going to be one outcome once Crooks got sent off, seemed harsh for what was ultimately a clash of heads but to be honest not sure what he was doing charging down a header from 10 yards away like a rampaging bull. Since beating QPR we've just gone from one calamity to another. If Derby continue to suck I honestly think Wednesday have a better chance of staying up, lets face it they're already 6pts better us this season if you take away the deduction. BTW same ref who wrongly sent off Smith when we played Wednesday, I wonder if we'll appeal again.
I've been saying for weeks that none of Rotherham, Wednesday, or Derby deserve to stay up. But of the three performances today, I'd say Rotherham propably come closest.
If you ignore their poor start to the season Wycombe have looked the team most suited to staying in the Championship out all of us. I bet their fans are really proud they could have easily just thrown in the towel when they looked dead and buried. If we stay up we can consider ourselves lucky because as bad as Wednesday have been, they've still collected more points than us if you take away the penalty.
