I'm counting as trophies the Supporters Shield, US Open Cup, MLS Cup and ha ha CONCACAF Champions League
When MLS and LigaMX merge and create a second division, I could see us celebrating that championship. Thx, Jay!
I said 2-5 cuz really, if I can't gin up enough optimism to think my club can win some silverware within FIVE YEARS then I don't think I should be giving the energy to this that I do. But I have been called naively optimistic before.
First two years are re-building and transition - But US Open is possible within 5 years - Its a crap shoot towards the end, and depends on which team is up that day or not - And I think Hernan can manage this even with a so-so regular season record DC United's last Open Cup win came when they were in last place in the league - And the same thing happened in the EPL and FA Cup that year
That is a lot of optimism towards someone who has not managed DC United in a single regular season game.
which is better: a definite possibility or an indefinite possibility? depending upon the possible answer I might have to change my answer to the poll.
I voted 6-10 years because I think by that time we'll be in year 2-3 of a new, more committed ownership group.
I’ve been drinking the red, white and rose of this: for the better part of a year. At $12.50 a bottle vs. $23.99 a box, a case of 6 boxes with a 8% discount works out to a $100 savings over 2cs of bottles. Then in Jan. I found a store with the box at $21.99. Bought a case of each varietal. Now that my work schedule has expanded back to 9pm some nights, I imagine I’ll be downing less volume and more quality in the nightly wine choices. Thx, Jay!
Technically the pouched wine (the box is but a thing to hold the pouch in a shape the shippers of wine and the stores that sell it prefer) is a much much better storage system, no question it's superior to see-thru glass and corks. I dislike wine (causes horrible acid reflux) and only use it to cook and can't honestly tell the difference between "really good" and semi-cheap wine taste-wise so it makes no difference to me - and I recently read that in a blind taste test most experts will pick a boxed wine over a 100+-year-old french number. I predict it will all be in boxes soon enough. Similar to how, in the near future, all the world's leagues will look more like MLS than what they do now (to bring it back on-topic)
I've been a wine drinker since I was 16 (Europe) and have a well developed affinity for certain varietals. I have tried pretty much every permutation of wine container and while glass/cork increases the need for proper storage I still prefer it as glass doesn't change the mouth feel. My favorite winery (Bonny Doon) switched to glass/screwcap over a decade ago and that to me is the best of both worlds. No risk of corking, no plastic bladder taste. Also - their Albarino is fantastic.
Interesting. That was my reasoning also. The current leadership has not spent the kind of money necessary to be truly competitive in MLS. DCU is just not a club with the ambition and willingness to spend money to compete with LAFC, Seattle, LA Galaxy, Portland, Atlanta, Toronto, Miami, New York City, and the new version of the Columbus Crew.
